Title: Loading Problem
Post by: Vicious America on October 05, 2005, 04:29:48 am
ok while trying to get this program up and running today i stumbled across many problems all of which were fixable by doing a little bit of reading here but now i am stumped.

While i am loading to enter the game i get to a point when it says the task is \'loading the GUI\' then the program terminates leaving me on my desktop (which looks very nice by the way but lacks certian game qualities)

I\'ve check again and again that the maps and sound are set properly according to what is continously given as a answer in this forum but is there something else i could try?

Have you made sure that you have the latest drivers for your graphics card?

Oh man guys, no double-posting! Edit your posts next time to add new info instead of making posts with no one replying in between.

Vicious: Check what kind of video card you have, whether Nvidia, ATI, etc., and go to the manufacturer\'s website (nvidia.com, ati.com, etc.). Latest drivers are available as a free download. To check what card you have if you are on Windows, simply right-click anywhere on your desktop, hit Properties, find the Settings tab, and check under Display.

Maggot: We generally need to know the numbers attached to the end of that \"UNEXPECTED ERROR\" ... error. You haven\'t posted if you have disabled sound yet, so I would suggest you try this out first. Also make sure you do not have \"Load All Maps\" enabled. (Options for sound and maps are found within the PlaneShift Setup utility. On Windows: Start -> Programs -> PlaneShift Crystal Blue -> PlaneShift Setup).

My problem is the same thing visc, only it goes past GUI and crashes when my character should be loaded into the game..I\'m thinking it\'s because I do not have an OPENGL compatible card, but I\'m working on getting drivers from nvidia.com. You should look for OPENGL drivers too.
