If I\'m not completely mistaken, this is the front cover of the books in Jayose\'s library, from back when they were sitting on his desk.
Edit: back cover, front cover has some scribble on it.

But you\'re right, it\'s the model you see when you examine a book (the icon) and the icon that shows that you need a book for making a required action, such as crafting, that needs you to learn from a book its basis.
Still, the question is: What does the symbol mean, and not where it can be found. 8)

The context of an unknown symbol usually makes it easier to guess possible meanings. In this case, it could merely be the guild symbol of Hydlaa\'s book makers guild.

It was a joke. The idea is that if it has some significance, that significance might be irrespective of context. Given a context, people might attach meanings onto the symbol that might not be inherent to the symbol itself. That is, environment leads to emmergent properties, and my concern is with the symbol as a closed system.

Yes, I thought of this reasoning as possible explanation for the utter lack of context. However, this should have been stated upfront instead only after some time, which is why I disregarded this possibility.
This is, BTW, one of my general issues with your posts: you like to simply throw random and incoherent statements into threads and only back them up or tie them into any meaningful context after you are pressured to do so. This wastes a lot of energy for others and is quite detrimental to the discussion, and in general bad conduct. In addition, this late reasoning looks, more often than not, like a makeshift justification to try to make people believe you thought of that and meant it while in fact you didn\'t, and most of all it looks like twisting of the initial, usually quite broad and muddy, statement or argument to go along with the overall consensus, something that I have oftentimes noticed (and noted) on your posts, way more often than with any other poster, including the trolls.
Regarding the OT, one could possibly claim that this is a stilised depiction of a small but essential component of the printing press, assuming that this device has already been invented in Yliakum. Possibly a clamp to fixate the letters on the plate.
Or it could be a \"copy\" glyph (like IRL \"DVD-RW\" :) ), if printing is done magically.

If you look carefully at it, long enough will you go blind?
I suggest it is the result of someone combining a number of curves and rays together into the general form of a glyph or rune, then printing it on a book. But you asked what it meant.
It means: \"This book printed on 97% recycled paper.\"

The idea of a copy protection glyph is cute. If the devs go ahead and put letters and books and journals in the game which people can write in, it would be neat if the symbol was encorporated into the window.
If you think that I have a pattern of making vague statements to trick people into misinterpretting them, then of course I think you\'re mistaken and perhaps too suspicious of my motives. I tend to be vague at times if I think that further information is either unnecessary or in some instances even prohibbited. What interests me of course is when people ask for prohibbited bits of information to be volounteered in public forums of discussion... but anyway, if you want to make a case of this or if you are sincerely concerned, feel free to PM me with specific examples which have struck you of late. If you give me specific examples, I\'d be in a better position to explain myself to you.

Not copy protection, but merely copy. *Thinks of \"ARM\" (Arcane Rights Management), gets angry and quickly extinguishes the thought*
Anyway, if this symbol indeed is intended to be like that, then it would indeed be nice to stick it in the writing interface ingame.

If you haven\'t noticed when I was pointing these things out on the other threads, then honestly I think no PM can ever make any difference.
@ Keyaz: Indeed it looks like the blade of an axe. The vertical parts would go through the wooden handle, the notches would be used to fixate it. Additionally, the two vertical pieces could be bent towards each other slighty when inserting it into the handle so that it will provide better fixation.
Or it\'s a hand-held weapon where the (in the image) right vertical part is the handle, the left one is a protection / parry part, and the top is the blade.
But none of these would make it to the back cover of a book about Yliakum geography or others. :)
@ Sangwa: lol, what did you do to Jayose so he didn\'t notice?

no offence in any way, but:
seytra, not everything should be analised and captured in reasoning. Sometimes people just do random stuff, say random things, start random threats, withouth and logic in it,. Either just for the fun of it or without any reason at all. Neither are people supposed to always have a reason for doing things.
For the symbol: The book wouldn\'t happen to be a crafting guide to make pointy pants, would it?
