Restart your computer and try later.
PS: Planeshift is still in an heavy status of development and playing it might require some computer knowledge.
I am pretty sure people with lack of technical experience find PS rather boring due to all the problems it might have and all the steps you have to do for having it fully working.

You dowloaded it using Bittorrent?
If you did, open bittorrent and delete the file you see.
Then try again.

You can edit your messages and add content in them instead of posting multiple ones.
Anyway, maybe the program you have downloaded it is not complete and for this reason you cannot start it.
Try using bittorrent or check again that what you have downloaded is the complete file.

If you try to execute the file and it says something like \"...is not a valid 32-bit windows application\" or similar, the download isn\'t complete yet.
If you try to execute the file and it says something like \"...is in use by another process\" or similar, you have to close the bittorrent client. Make sure it\'s not just minimized to the system tray (the icons close to the clock) either.
Other that that, without a more precise description of the error, a diagnosis is pretty much impossible. It\'s like going to the hospital and saying \"I\'m not feeling so well\", the doctor can perhaps diagnose \"you are ill\" but he won\'t be able to cure you. ;)
