I downloaded bittorrent just to let u all know.Now this is the part that won\'t work.I\'m trying to download the crystal blue thingie(that\'s the planeshift game right?)and everytime i do it just won\'t work!!!!Some1 please help me out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(Guide me step by step please)I\'ve downloaded the game like 10 times now and all what pops-up when I click on the game is a black screen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

have you installed it? or is that the part that is giving you trouble?
have you run the updater?
do you have the latest graphics drivers?

graphic drivers? updaters?i\'ve dowloaded it fully from bittorent but when i double click it,it does nothing then disappears(no messages pop-up)plz help me(o yea it says that there is an update for a new version of bittorrent and i always run the update but it\'s not updated
o yea i downloaded it using the windows method,i downloaded bittorent first then i clicked on the thing from planeshift.it site where it says:
2)click here to download planeshift crystal blue 0.3.011
and for some reason everytime i dowload it the thing won\'t work

Has the Crystal Blue download finished completely? What are you clicking, exactly, to run the finished downloaded file?
Do you meet the minimum requirements?
Minimum Requirements:
* Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP, Mac OS X 10.2.6, Linux, FreeBSD or Solaris
* GeForce 2 or higher 3D graphics card
* 1 Ghz CPU
* 512 MB RAM
* 1 GB free disk space
* 56k modem Internet connection
Recommended Requirements:
* Windows XP, Mac OS X 10.2.6, Linux or FreeBSD
* GeForce 4 or higher 3D graphics card
* 2 Ghz CPU
* 1 GB RAM
* 1 GB free disk space
* Broadband Internet connection
The updater can be accessed after you have installed the game. It is found within your main PlaneShift directory, and also by clicking Start -> Programs -> PlaneShift Crystal Blue -> PlaneShift Updater.
Regarding graphics drivers: If you\'re using an nvidia card, download the latest drivers from nvidia.com (http://www.nvidia.com). If you\'re using ATI, the recommended drivers are Omega (http://omegadrivers.net/) (you can alternatively try ati.com (http://www.ati.com)). Basically find your card model, and download the drivers from the manufacturer\'s website. They\'re free updates :)

i have the recommended requirements
it says that it\'s at 100% on bittorent and then something appears on desktop that say planeshift crystal blue and i double click on it but then it just disappears

Make sure you\'re not clicking on the seeding torrent file... Do you save finished downloads to your desktop? Is the file you are clicking labeled \"PlaneShift_CBV0.3.011.exe\"?

Well, I guess you mean download, since you can keep the torrent and uploading parts of it as long as you want.
Normally, when you clicked the torrent, the client poped up catching it, well; at that moment, either you\'re told of where you want to save the file, or it\'s automatically stored in a predefined default folder. If you don\'t remember what folder is that, you can always try to use the search function of Windows, you should look for PlaneShift_CBV0.3.011.exe.
From your post, still I don\'t see if you really got the file.
In case you\'ve got it:
Double clicking on it should begin the installation. BitTorrent is _not_ the one installing the game, bittorrent only downloads the file to your computer. That file _is_ the self instalable.
So when you double click on the file PlaneShift_CBV0.3.011.exe, the installation should begin, and you can install it as you install any other application or game, so I guess no problems there.
Once you complete your installation, go to start-programs-planeshift and select planeshift updater (recovery mode) it will launch the updater and begin automatically to search for updated files, launching it this way, will make it easier for you to provide eventual feedback if you feel something isn\'t going as it should.

when i double on the icon on my desktop that says planeshift_CBVO.3.011 it does nothing!!!!!!!it just disappears!!!!!!

245,856,434 This is the size the file is supposed to have. Try checking it out right clicking on it and selecting properties.
There is also this application http://www.planeshift.it/download/md5sum.exe
that if you use on an msdos window and choice the file to examine, PlaneShift_CBV0.3.011.exe in this case, should return you some numbers.
Try putting both files in C:\\ for an easy acces. Then open the \"msdos\" window and go to c:\\
then type md5sum PlaneShift_CBV0.3.011.exe that should return you the numbers I guess.
Try to see if the numbers are: fc36e88c174f44f7540f130782afcfbb
(well yes, they aren\'t numbers. It\'s alphanumerichal :D)

omg when i exit BitTorrent a message pops up saying:
Title:Errors Occured
See the logfile \'C:\\Documents and Settings\\owner\\bittorent_errors.log\'for details

Hello, welcome to the PlaneShift forums.
Rule #1: We do NOT double-triple-bajillion post in here. If you have new information, always edit your previous post and add it in there, instead of making post after post of (nearly) useless information. This whole thread needs some major cleaning.
Rule #2: Multiple exclamation and/or question marks do not speed anything up, make anything more readable/understandable, or raises anyone\'s desire to help you. Calm down. Take a deep breath. This is a game, your life does not depend on it.
Rule #3: You are in no position to continue that horrible, demanding tone, with anyone here. People volunteer their time, and have been extremely patient with giving you their suggestions and offering advice on how to make the application work. Try to be a little more respectful in the community - otherwise you are going to have a hard time staying here. I will personally make sure of that.
Now as for your last post: After the planeshift .exe file is downloaded, double click to run it. Make sure you are clicking on the .exe, not the torrent. Check the size, as Nilrem so kindly posted earlier. Follow his instructions.

Hej....
I\'m also new to planeshift and also was (and am - maybe due to poor RAM) facing some trouble, but, bountyhunter - I feel like haveing to say a word or two, please, don\'t get mad at me and just say if I\'m getting it wrong..)
First, and most of all, this is a free, open source project (that is just doing a version jump that seems still not complete?? as for linux, haven\'t tried the windows version successfully).
This means two things: One, it\'s not allways like buying one of those boxes with super-so-and-so, throw the cd in and double click - and get mad if there\'s any issue. Second: They seem to try a lot to get you on your feet with it here and you (just say if I\'m wrong) seem to get more and more angry.... without answering their questions properly - which they only do ask because they don\'t really see what has happed and went wrong. All they want to do is meet you in the game, I\'m sure! It\'s also about their fun.
Now to your problem: They asked you what exactly it is you are doubleclicking and you just keep saying an icon from the torrent download. Windows, in standard configuration, uses to hide what icons point to from its users. You could, however, right-click the icon, look what \"properties\" says and post the answer.
Also, it might not run before you do the uptdate. You can find the update *after* installing the fully downloaded file (the one you are trying to download again via mirror 2 as you say) and then in (Win XP?) \"Start -> All programms -> Planeshift -> \" and there the updater icon.
If the updater is slow then try the alternative server mentiond in this posting:

And then again try to start the game, both, via desktop icon and start menu. For me (under linux) a desktop icon which I crated just kept crashing when logging in and it seems that it needed the working direktory in the icons\' properties settings. Don\'t have the windows icon right now to test it....
(btw, I downloaded the win version with donkey, works also fine!)

alrighty this time i\'m downloading planeshift_CBVO.3.011 using BitTorrent now after it\'s done and icon appears on the desktop saying PlaneShift_CBVO.3.011(almost same pic as BitTorrent icon)i\'m gonna check the properties of it once downloaded and if this dun work..........

You will have to do a lot of reading, and be really patient here. PlaneShift is a pre-alpha tech demo, really not a game at all, and so you shouldn\'t come in here expecting flawless perfection. Yes there are occasional problems, yes some of them are currently unsolvable by the players, but things are constantly being looked at and fixed.

The file is supposed to have a .exe extension, and have a size of 245,856,434 bytes. Right-click and hit properties to check this.

the icon that appears on my desktop when bittorent downloads planeshift does not have the .exe and i checked properties n stuff doesn\'t really say nething so what the heck happened to the thing that i click on to install the game? ne1 here that can help meh?

Alrighty. Try double-clicking it. Does it disappear again? If yes, then you are going to have to be patient and wait for someone else to offer new suggestions. Myself, I\'d be stumped ;)
As for what you do with bittorent... You could leave it running and share the download with others, for as long as you can, which is preferred. Or you can uninstall everything once you get the game working.

updater=super slow and i dunno how to do the thing that guy said to use the alternative and make it go faster he said something about opening it in wordpad but i dunno how to do that

I\'ve uploaded my (updated) copy of the file you\'d need to modify, updaterconfig.xml, here (http://s46.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2GGWLB1P95PUB1PV6QCPLSKOO0). Simply download it and replace your old file, in your main PlaneShift directory (usually C:\\Program Files\\PlaneShift Crystal Blue).
Then run the updater again.

Download that file to a specific location. So choose \"Save As\" or something similar instead of \"Run\" or \"Open,\" when you\'re trying to download. To make things simpler, download it to your desktop. Then right-click on the downloaded file and hit \"Cut,\" open your PlaneShift folder (again, C:\\Program Files\\PlaneShift Crystal Blue) and right-click once more to hit \"Paste.\" Overwrite. Run the updater again :)

thought it was going faster but bottom bar still only at 0% top is loading pretty fast tho but only 28kb per sec?
hope it starts speeding up

Wel.... actually... How much computer experience do you have? Seems like you don\'t know what files and icons are. And what the menu is and does in windows when you right-click something.
You need to learn how to operate windows because a forum like this is not about that...
btw, did you read about this role play? I just mean, it\'s not the kind of game where you run about and kill monsters. It\'s an entirely different world. Just in case you expect to open the gates to war and hell and go through as a hero.. Do you know where you go today when entering planeshift? Just trying to avoid disappointment..
