In a recent rp event the subject of age arose and I said I was (ic) middle aged, this started an ooc discussion as to what is middle age for an Enkidukai or any of the other races? Afterwards I checked the Player Guide, searched the forum etc. but could find no mention of life spans.
I would expect (following usual fictional rules) for the elves and dwarves to have longer lives than humans and Enkis and the Kran to be almost immortal, haven\'t a clue about the Klyros and mixed race.
Those are my thoughts on the matter what do you think?

It raises another question -- how long is the year in Yliakum?
The Players Guide mentions 24 periods of the year, but nothing about the number of days in these periods.
The character creation screen allows choosing between 10 months and 32 days, so it looks like there are 320 days in every year.
The clock in the game seems to be having 24 hours, but it is running rather fast than slow.
To me it looks like the year in Yliakum is quite short, so childhood may last at least 30-40 years. Middle aged human could be more than 100 years old.

I would love to know what day it is ingame, why do we choose birthdays if we can\'t celebrate them?

personally, for Sekhemet, i generally play her as mid-20s, but still young and naiive. if bereror is right, then she is still very much a young enki, still new to the world. as for days and whatnot, she generally doesn\'t pay attention to them, nor counts them. she knows of upcoming holidays by word of mouth, or by season, but she doesn\'t count them saying \"only ____ days until ____!!\". she\'s currently excited for the Festival of Forgotten Souls (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=19708&boardid=13&styleid=4&sid=d8303ad9439338d04193ebabf85f9a53), but she only knows of it and plans for it by word of mouth.
she\'s a very down-to-earth enki, not really worrying about the days. she\'s more concerned about keeping warm for winter than what day it begins.

Didn\'t really mean what age are you but how long do you think each race will live?
-
How long can a Kran live at the bottom of an Ocean?
How long can a Dwarf live in a tunnel without any means of pumping air into the tunnel?
Those have nothing to do with this but I felt like asking anyway :P
Dwarves live up to 80-90 years
Humans live up to 60-70 years
Elves live up to 170 years
Kran live as long as they don\'t do anything stupid..
Diaboli are immortal and sterile.
Ywwnn live up to 170 years
Enkidukai live up to 60-70 years
-
how can an immortal and sterile diaboli have parents and a birthday?
hmm that would mean they were all created at the same time and are very old and wise and know a lot about Yliakum and it\'s history and such.
-
no :P They arnt, they spend too much time underground and obsessing over sex. Thus they don\'t know anything about History or anything :P Besides, thats not how it actually is, I was just putting my thought in and that makes the most sense.

I think the Devs may have to make some things a bit more clear to players.
Personally...I think that ages can help contribute to the realness of PS and can make a bit more sense...
It\'s not like everyone gets to be immortal or something...
Also...since there are marriages in PS...is it possible to have kids or something like that?

Only through roleplay. I doubt actual \"children\" will ever be implemented ;)

If it was running as fast as rl one, then people might be seeing only one time of the day in Yliakum every time they played. Time running fast is purely ooc thing.
