Title: Going on with crystal weapons...
Post by: meigoltann on October 18, 2005, 05:25:06 pm: I\'ve just added an alberd-like weapon based on a big exagonal crystal.

the fourth image in the gallery is the low poly version of cygnus bow with a provvisory (really provvisory) texture.

I think that weapons based on sharp krystals may be suitable for krans who are naturally experts of growing special kind of crystals. I will continue on this concep until someone tell me that kran never intended (or will never intend) to do such things, or until I get tired of it...

I\'m also accepting requests for other races styles.

In fact, I reccomend not posting any more stuff that could be related to planeshift because I think you need to apply to the team. If you post something, like your weapons, on the forum, then you are less likely to get them put in game. If you have any non planeshift related models, then post tem here so we can see them, and then apply to the team.

Hey talk to Karyuu, or Arcane Flacon, or someone else on how to become part of the team. Believe me, they need all the modeleres they can get; plus, your 2d work is great as well.

You are very good, I like yer weapons much... and maybe you could try armor as well, start up your own full set of crystal weapons/armor. Not ones for every race yet maybe, but maybe for more human races? Work on the others later maybe... Just a suggestion, if you don\'t like it, ignore me completely about it :)

Edit: Oh, and if we could vote for artists, you\'d definitely have my vote :)

Post by: JellyWerker on October 19, 2005, 06:18:59 am: Very cool, if a bit strange/unrealistic (but hey, it\'s a fantasy game :D) I see a problem with the axe though, when you converted the quads to tri\'s, it gave ugly creases, I am not sure if there is a way to fix that save by rearranging the geometry of your vertices.

Post by: meigoltann on October 19, 2005, 08:33:29 am: I\'ve noticed it too JellyWerker, and yes it is a problem of vertex position in the geometry... I left them where they were cause since it\'s only fan art (not in the negative meaning) I didn\'t want to spend much time on a single model.

Such problems occur when you place vertex around without a preliminar geometric study, however using bevel function always let you avoid those imperfection.

So you think I could apply to the team? I read the guide on the site and send a couple of e-mails but no result... maybe I\'ll try the IRC channel.

Glaive/spears with large blades, long thin swords such as rapiers and kattana, and twin, very sleek daggers would be idea weapons. It would be interesting to see a Klyros geared weapon that has a blade resembling a scale on a dragon, or a fin. Or even a sword with a hilt gaurd that resembles a Klyros\' wing? Just some suggestions.

They do take their time when replying to emails, so IRC is the better choice by far :) Still, I wouldn\'t expect an immediate answer. Give yourself about a month ;)

Looks very good. I especially like your 2d art. I\'ll be sure to check out your next models. Hmm, the granite head of the mace seems a bit thicker than in the sketch. Good work with the UV mapping.

For the axe you can also try the mesh smooth function. With autosmooth, different degrees can be used to get more precise results.

I know Crystal Space supports mesh smoothing, but I\'m not sure how it treats the different degrees of it. So in the end, the safest way would be to flatten the quad poly like you said. :)

I don\'t associate Enkidukai with heavy weapons. They\'re overpowered as it is... I know they\'re popular, but wouldn\'t you be bored if the race was good at everything?

it is a short sword, with a platinum handle with gold Glyphs inset into its hilt and the gold and platinum spread like viens up the crystal blade. there are also gems inset on the handle...

Enscribed in the blade is

We would be sooooo grateful...

Ontopic: I think crystal weapon for the kran\'s would be cool, perhaps a mallet or club studded with sharp spiky crystals would accomodate them.
