read the player guide before you give yourself an anuerism :\\

basically sell the phat rat loot. buy a weapon.
kill more rats train up the skillz with the pp.
wash, rince, repeat.
and eventually you will be able to kill those nasty other things, like clackers. *shudders*
oh yeah. rtm. that too.

Melee is as good as a basic weapon until training starts coming into play as a factor.
Move to clackers ~now~. You might have to stop and heal more often, but you\'ll be better off since clackers
i) drop better loot
and
ii) are more often positioned in medium sized groups

Player Guide (http://www.planeshift.it/guide/en/index.html) :)
Quests are few and buggy every now and then, and definitely will not be shared in detail through the forums. Your best bet is walking up to someone in-game and asking in a roleplaying manner where an adventurer such as yourself may find quests for adventuring.
Your skills increase through training with a trainer NPC. These NPCs aren\'t marked out specifically from any other normal NPCs, so again you might have to ask around, or try to find out yourself. Target an NPC and type /train - if he or she is a trainer, a window will come up. Skills are increased with Progression Points and tria, the in-game currency. You will need both, and a great amount of both. More on the process is explained within the guide.
I would also have to stress that PlaneShift is a roleplaying game first and foremost, so if you are tired of bashing rats all the time, take a break and talk to other characters around you, of course while being in-character.
Happy playing!

You certainly don\'t have to fight rats if you don\'t want to. Simpley look for other people to talk to and forget about the persuit of money. There are even less ways to spend money then there are ways to earn it.
