See, I had updated everything, and I have downloaded the card, but when I try to load up Planeshift, it just doesn\'t! How do I fix this, and/or what do I need to do?
edit: I get to the screen when the game is about to load, with the pictures of a cat person,an elf, a worlock, and a stone person, some building in the background, and music. but from then on it doesn\'t load!

That music thing rang a bell...
Perhaps you should try disabling sound using planeshift setup, and relaunching the game again.
All Programs->Planeshift->Planeshift Setup.

Thank you for the reply. I used Setup to switch off the sound and then launch the game. The game window apprears (characters on the left and a picture of a castle on the right) with Planeshift logo on top right. There are yellow numbers (top right) alternating between about 30 to 34. But everything is stuck there. What is supposed to happen after this?
I updated directX, video drivers and audio drivers.
Specs: Planeshift: 0.3.011

It can be interesting to have a screen of those numbers you see. Try making a screenshot and upload it to http://www.imageshack.us it\'s very user friendly.
In the meanwhile try to see if your system meets those
Minimum Requirements:
* Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP, Mac OS X 10.2.6, Linux, FreeBSD or Solaris
* GeForce 2 or higher 3D graphics card
* 1 Ghz CPU
* 512 MB RAM
* 1 GB free disk space
* 56k modem Internet connection
Recommended Requirements:
* Windows XP, Mac OS X 10.2.6, Linux or FreeBSD
* GeForce 4 or higher 3D graphics card
* 2 Ghz CPU
* 1 GB RAM
* 1 GB free disk space
* Broadband Internet connection
EDIT: I wonder if those 30 or 34 are the ping from laanx, but honestly I would expect 300 or 340... It can be the packet loss then... :P Screen :D
-
the next screen is the log in screen.
but how long are you leaving it? i seem to recall that it sometimes takes a bit to start up when you first load it... or has that been fixed.
-
I have:
* Windows XP Home
* Dell Dimension 4700
* ATI Radeon X300/X550 graphics card
* 3.2 Ghz CPU
* 512 MB RAM
* 118 GB free disk space
* Verizon Fios (5Mbyte/sec down, 2M byte/s up)
This is the startup screen where the game gets stuck:

I really have no idea what that number might mean.
And I think you too meet the minimum requirements by far, so, if as you said you updated your radeon drivers you should be able to launch the game.
Apparently the latest catalyst drivers should have no problems with PS, but, if noone adds any suggestion, I\'d try the Omega ones, to see if you can launch the game at least.
If that fails too, I guess you\'ll have to wait for the update, and see if this problem got solved and you can play.
The update is now coming real soon.

I\'ll try that, thankyou. wow, I never knew just downloading a game wold be so complicated :P

I downloaded last night and still having problems.
Same problem ... No success.
Exception_Access_Violation at XYZ memory address
Went in and changed my settings
Verifed Sound and maps off
Looked at your suggestion to turn off sound for the game.
Wasn\'t too happy about it but worth a shot.
Disabled the line
;System.PlugIns.iSoundRender = crystalspace.sound.render.software
Verified my hardware was definately at recommended requirements
XP SP2
Dual Processor AMD Athlon XP 1800 (yes I know that\'s odd)
512 Ram
ATI Video Card that has 256 Ram (too lazy to look up)
And a broadband connection
I\'ve spent longer working on this than I have with most games and programs.
I\'m done looking. Gimme an answer.

patience, grasshopper, patience.
did you turn off the sound in setup or did you just disable the line?
and just to double check, cause you didn\'t mention it. you did you date right?
