Title: Planeshift Maps
Post by: zuppka on October 29, 2005, 02:48:20 am
im just wondering if there are any maps of PS areas. im fairly new and its hard to remember all of these area names and how to get to them. are there and maps  or anything close to it i could use as a guildline. the sweres are also quite confusing and maps would be good for that too

Your best bet would be to get in game and join a guild and ask them for help...You will be hard pressed to find anyone here willing to help and not just flame you for your question. I have maps somewhere but I am no help since it would take awhile to find them, sorry.

There were zoomed-out screenshots of areas floating around the forums, but I\'m not sure how helpful those would be, or if they are still hosted where they were originally hosted. Try searching, though it may be hard.

In the beginning you will have some trouble memorizing where things are, no doubt, but the key is exploration and repetition - and you can always make your own maps as you become more familiar with areas. Always feel free to ask characters in-game to help you get to a certain place, or ask for a tour - as long as you are asking in a roleplay manner, you should have very little to no problems finding a guide.

Well I always find exploring the best idea to finding one\'s way around.  After a bit of exploring and getting yourself lost you will develop your own mental map.  Player cartographers will probably be implemented but while the world is still small learning your own way is probably the best.

Also when you have future questions you might want to summon the magical search scroll that will allow you to look back at the questions and answers of those before you.

Edit:  Ack to late, always take too long to form my posts, hope my info is still helpful :)

A nice effort, but be aware that if the map isn\'t stylized or made artistic somehow so it would be something beyond just lines signifying sewer paths, it won\'t be allowed in the forum. Such maps are considered \"spoiler\" maps at the moment, and are best kept to yourself or shared privately among friends or acquaintances ;)

Yeah you will find people in game to be much more helpfull then on the forum\'s. I will find all my screenshots and host them on a site to help the new players since I have many shots. Still exploration is my most favorite part of Planeshift so give that a try. I am going in game now so you can add me to your friends list and I will help as much as I can.. My name is Aranis

[EDIT] be in game as soon as update finishes

As far as I remember, the world \"when completed\" may be just part 3 and 4. But who knows what it will be in 2105. ;)

The first picture, indeed, would be a great map, if available in a higher resolution! And if I understood the requirements of user made maps correctly, it will match well, and so be allowed to be distributed.

They are the different levels of \"Depth\" i guess you could say...kinda like floors of a building but the lower you go the higher the number...

Erm... actually it\'s because that diagram has been taken from another page, where the numbers were annotated.

1. The Crystal Column
2. The Azure Sun
3. Yliakum
4. Submerged levels (levels 7 and 8)
5. The Stone Labyrinths
6. Kadaikos
