and no i don\'t mean well im gonna set the thing up first. i mean like what game are u gonna play first? or are you going to setup your xbox live profile? i am sooo playing oblivion first.....that game looks sooooo sweeeet!
-
... wait for the price to drop by about 50%, and a suitable stable of games to appear.
-
Not going to by the xbox again. I found this thing called the computer and realised it has most of the games for pc. Not only that but the xbox is way over priced and microsoft will only come out with a new and improved one a year or two down the road.
/me to addicted to PS anyway :D
-
lol that\'s pretty funny you don\'t think oblivion is stable?
-
I will get Oblivion for my computer :P
-
yea but playing it on ur comp is not the same experiance as playing it on the xbox i think that holding a controller in your hand makes the game that much funner then using a mouse and keyboard and plus you don\'t get xbox live on comp. and you don\'t get viruses on xbox.

I play multiple games with a gamepad on my PC. I like having the control over things on the computer, settings beyond the options menu in a game, etc. Xbox live, no. but who cares? You only pay for online access once with a PC. Viruses on the XBOX? I guess not...yet.
Mind you, I\'m not really having an open mind about it....
My original XBOX\'s power supply had a half dozen capacitors burst and I\'m still mad.
/me wonders if anyone want to buy some games...
-
The first thing I\'m going to do when the 360 comes out... Not buy it?
-
First of all, I hate using controllers, especially Xbox ones... And even more so for FPS games... Mouse nad keyboard much easier... Second of all, i don\'t get viruses because i do nothing to get them. And besides, this way i get the construction set and such and theirs the fact that oblivion isn\'t an online game, and if it were, i have a great internet connection anyway.
-
Hmm, probably nothing... Maybe breathing...
-
yeah... what efflixi said or what ever im usually doing. maybe after a while go to a friends house and see what its like for a little
-
I\'m just gonna live my life as before :]
...probably go play PlaneShift or a match of GNU Backgammon :] ...hmmm, maybe even Wesnoth with my brother - the last match we had it was a tie all day long!
-
Im going to wait for the new nintendo to come out :P

I had the same feelings earlier about the computer being better earlier, but I think the 360 changed my mind. Graphically it is as impressive, or btter than any computer game out now, and the graphics are good enough to where I wouldnt even care if better ones came out cause they are already so great. Also the reason I liked the PC better was mainly because of the games available for it. Such as RPG\'s, online first person shooters, and such that were not widely available in good quality on the current sytems. but the 360 and the other soon to be sytems are focusing heavily on online play. And of course: Price. Sure the xbox is a little expensive but look at a gaming PC. You have to pay about $2000 or more for a computer even closely capable of playing such games that are available of r the 360 to their full potential, so the 360 makes great gameing far more widely available.
-
First, XBox has yet to prove that it has backing by general game designer companies. Graphics suck if the game doesn\'t play on your system.
Second, PC are more than just gaming machines. They can do anything and everything + great gaming experiences.
The graphics of a console may equal but will never be better than PCs. The same or better cards will always be available to PCs. This is especially true as console are becoming computers in a smaller case.
The mouse/keyboard is much faster and more adaptive for gaming than any gamepad or joystick. Every game I\'ve ever played on any console has always been missing the one configuration that makes the most sense to me. Something always doesn\'t feel right. With the PC I just make it right by redesigning the controls. If I absolutely want a joystick or gamepad then I have the choice on the PC. Any attempt at a keyboard mouse config on a console is a joke at best.
$2000 dollars is hilarious. I can build a computer that will play any game out there at better resolution than a TV can handle, let alone a console, for under a grand. And let\'s not forget that your new 360 will be a one pad wonder and you will have to purchase every accessory separately which can add up to hundreds of dollars.
There are multitudes of free games available for the PC. Many of which are as good as anything one might buy. You will buy everything you want to see and play on the 360. In fact with a PC you can create your own game. Not possible on consoles.
If you like console gaming then by all means grab a new XBox. But don\'t tell hardcore PC users that they dinosaurs and can\'t keep up. The PC may evolve but it will never disappear and it will always rule gaming.
-
Yeah, it is better to build your own computer... or have your supergamer brother give you his when he goes and gets an Alienware laptop that can run any PC game out there on probably full settings... I have his old computer which will run any game i will be playing quite nicely. Oblivion will run well on this computer, and once that comes out, all i am playing is it, PS, and UT2004 (which i also play on full detail and graphic settings etc.). My brother also updates my computer for me and gets me better stuff when he can.
-
Yeah I cant buy an Xbox.. Way too loyal to Nintendo :).. And Microsoft makes it :(. I dont want them getting their hands on a Monopoly. So Ill stick with Nintendo and a little Playstation because of the RPGs :D... if Nintendo had some I wouldnt have to cheat :P.
-
..Does anyone know why they chose to call it Xbox 360? I fail to see any relevance.

When the XBOX 360 is released it will be more powerful than any computer on the market. The processor alone in the 360 is triple core. Most of today\'s computers are lucky to have a dual core processor. Although I am no fan of XBOX, the reality is that when the next-gen consoles hit they will surpass our computers.
Personally I\'ll stick to the PS3.
-
yeh, and after the 360 comes out, 3 months later computers will surpass it as well... Besides, like I said, any games i\'ll be playing are going to play just as well on my computer as they would on xbox 360... I\'ll stick with PS3 as well
-
first thing?
a heartbeat, naturally, then blood will rush through my veins cireculating oxygen to my body, my lungs will expand and contract breifly, i\'ll blink, get a cup of coffee, scratch my arse and cary on with life, because really, this is pointless.
-
Well besides all that technical stuff...
Gestures towards Keyaz and Efflixi
... I will probably get on Ebaum\'s World and watch Peanut Butter Jelly Time a thousand times, along with NumaNuma and the Hippo Noodles....
-
XBOX 360 will really be nothing more than a much faster update of ther \"pc dressed up as a console running windows 2000\". Playstation III and Nintendo Revolutions both have alot more technology going into their new systems with the PS3 having a processor power edge of all of the othes by using a revolutionalry new processor - something only they have - its a cell processor developed by IBM. Its an increadible feat of engineering, allowing for the ability to emmulate other processors without a performance hit, multiple read instrucionts, no need for cache, etc.. inane stuff. Nintendo revolutions will be a 4 processor based system with all kinds of nice optomizations and tweaks. Should be a good race.
Utilizing two IBM BE processors, Mercury said its blade server will have a 400 GFLOPS peak performance. The configuration will also utilize XDR memory from Rambus and run on Linux OS.
Wow - bye bye gigahertz.
The Cell processor, which will drive Sony\'s PlayStation 3, will run 10-times faster than current PC chips, its designers have said.
The CPU\'s running the XBOX 360 will comprise three 64-bit PowerPC cores, each running at 3.2GHz. Brown said the processor should be able to hit a peak bandwidth of 21.6G bps.
wow - they managed squeeze alot of bandwith out of outdated processor architectures! Pretty good how does PS3 stand up?
System Bandwidth
Main RAM 25.6GB/s
VRAM 22.4GB/s
so irreguarless of the 3 processor system in the xbox 360, they still don\'t even reach the internal bandwidth. So what about Nintendo Revolutions - well here you go:
The graphics processor will use an ATI chipset running at 600Mhz and connected to 256 MB of RAM. It will also have 32 shader pipelines -- 16 fewer than the Xbox 360. However, the Nintendo GPU is rumored to run at 500 million triangles per second (100 million sustained) -- roughly equivalent to the Xbox 360. It will also be able to handle 50 billion shader operations per second, which is about the same as the 360 as well.
The Nintendo consolewill also have a PPU -- a physics processing unit. This would be a first in the console wars. A PPU is a custom processor for handling physics calculations (in the same way that the GPU is a custom processor for handling graphics calculations). Physics calculations include things like collision detection and the modeling of complex objects like moving hair and clothes. Having a PPU would offload all of these calculations from the CPU.
If Nintendo pulls it off, the Revolution console will have all the firepower of Xbox 360 and much simpler architecture that makes life easier for software developers.
so there you go - playstations IIi will be the most powerful system in raw processing. The xbox 360 is doing not much special though the ati graphics chip is looking interesting, and the nintendo revolutions is using a more conventional base system making it easy on developers, while adding PPU technology to bring it up to snuff.

I used to feel that way about the controllers for xbox to but then I started playing the computer and got used to the mouse and keyboard. :D There are also controllers for your pc if you find the mouse and keyboard hard to adjust too. Also you may not get viruses for your xbox, but that doesn\'t mean the xbox is safe. I agree with Stronith statment: My original XBOX\'s power supply had a half dozen capacitors burst. :( What a friggin mess. You also have to worry about moving it becuase one mistake could cost you the xbox not being able to read the disc ....... Urge!!!
/me threw her xbox in the trash and has saved a lot of green with playing online games on her pc

*Sigh* Why does everything have to turn into a debate or argument of some sort...
Can\'t we all just get along? <3

I think we are all getting along...aren\'t we? I thought these were just opinions being posted ...... I could be wrong I guess.

I am guessing it is 360 degrees or \"coming full circle.\" A revolution is 360 degrees. Take your pick.

Personally im going to set fire to all the stores cause there spreading the plague that is micro$oft...then i\'ll wait 2 years and buy one after the revolution and PS3
the xbox 360 is nothing special at all the only game in there launch line up that interests me is Perfect dark zero. i had the misfortune of playing morrowind on the xbox and hated it...i lated played it on the pc and loved it...a mistake i wont make again with the 360 and oblivion :)

The best games released on consoles are usually released on PC. I know PC games lately require a pretty powerfull rig, so why not spend the money on upgrading your PC components instead. Graphics cards are continually being released knocking down the prices of some fantastic cards and although PCI express is now the favoured platform for new cards, major manufacturers continue to produce AGP equivelant cards untill your ready to update your motherboard. CPUs obvoulsy also improve gaming performance and AMD offer Athlon 64\'s for very reasonable prices. And if it comes to RAM, I think upgrading memory is more affordable than ever.
Besides, I don\'t forsee PS ever being released on a console so I\'ll certainly stick to PC. ;)
-
you know.... im going to be doing a whole lot of stuff before it comes out too.
-
I will go home, listen to Manowar, do homework and fall asleep... the same i do every day, I cant afford such a thing.

SACRILEG! You dont play Oblivion on Xbox as well as you dont play Morrowind on the Xbox. Why? MODs, they enhance your gameplay, further and further and further ....
-
Another reason - game patches. Seems like some of the xbox games undergo a few revisions as they are released. A few friends and I tried to play some other friends via xbox\'s ethernet option, only to find out that their copy of the game only worked with new copies as our copy wasn\'t patched. Talk about stupid.

ok well i didn\'t mean literally wat is the first thing you are gonna do, like heart beats or breathing, i meant are you gonna buy it or not. i kno there are controllers for computer it is just not the same as a consol controller, and plus i don\'t kno much about wat the 360 has in it exactly but it soes difenitly surpass any comp there is out now. and i would rather pay $400 than $2000 or more! for a gaming comp with crapier graphics. as for the ps3 i don\'t kno if it will do well if microsoft continues with there plan of releasing halo3 on the same day.i don\'t kno if im the only one but im a deticated xbox person.i\'ve just had too many bad experiences with the comp and i never was too fond of the ps3 as for nintendo they have just been falling behind in graphics gameplay almost everything......practically all there games are from t.v show like nickelodeon or cartoon network.......they all have bad graphics because they want to get them out fast and they are all short gameplay.
-
I apologize for reviving this thread but there are a few things I didnt get to say earlier:
i kno there are controllers for computer it is just not the same as a consol controller, and plus i don\'t kno much about wat the 360 has in it exactly but it soes difenitly surpass any comp there is out now.
I hear you there... I grew up as a consol gamer and it is difficult to play consol games on my computer.. I have a computer paddle, but its too different to enjoy as much (and Im just talking about consol games not comp games).
and i would rather pay $400 than $2000 or more! for a gaming comp with crapier graphics
Yes but you have to buy every single game for the Xbox unless it is crackable like the old one. There is sooo much more you can do with a comp.. from downloading all those all nes and snes games you loved to play while you were young to getting all the new music and whatever.. and you can play PS and chat with all your friends. Its an awesome versitile machine.
as for the ps3 i don\'t kno if it will do well if microsoft continues with there plan of releasing halo3 on the same day.
The PS3 will do just fine for now. No other consol will have the RPGs to compete in that realm.. so I will be forced to buy one as well most likely.
i don\'t kno if im the only one but im a deticated xbox person.
Why are you dedicated to the xbox? Im sorry, one major reason I will never buy anything xbox is because it is microsoft and frankly screw them ;). They are trying to take over the entire gaming market. I dont want them having any sort of monopoly.. more so then they do now :P.
as for nintendo they have just been falling behind in graphics gameplay almost everything.
Actually graphics and gameplay are two things its not falling behind in... its the lack of game developers... which most of the ones they have it seems are the true Nintendo ones that put out the novelty games like Mario, Mario Kart and those types of games. And yes alot of their focus is at the younger generation sadly :(... but they dont have the major RPG developers so it would make it quite difficult to attract the 15-30 year old RPGers... though I still buy what I can.. and I will always buy any system put out by them because its Nintendo. Sega was already put out of business and I dont want Nintendo being the next. Which is apart of their strategy from what I read. They dont take too many chances with new creative games because they dont know how they will sell and if they have too many major failures they could be the next to go :(... which I would say it would be the worst day in consol gaming history.
they all have bad graphics because they want to get them out fast and they are all short gameplay.
Huh? Short in gameplay? One major reason if this statement has any truth to it, is because they have so few RPGs. Those are, for the most part, the only games that you can rack up the hours playing. But one thing I will say about Nintendo is that they always have a higher quality product. What they make will last forever.. I still have a couple NESs and a SNES and a 64.. they are hardy machines that Im not sure you can break.. atleast not by playing them too much :D. While I had to replace my Playstation and my Playstation 2 that went bad because the laser starts to suck :(.. So I guess what Im trying to say is that I love Nintendo and screw all the other systems :P.

Wait. Wouldn\'t a revolution be 180 degrees? I mean the revolution they are trying to explain seems to be one of \"change\". But if you went 360 degrees, wouldn\'t you go right back in the direction you were headed?
Just a thought.
But yeah, I\'m buying one of those xbox thingies. Ever since my last xbox got burgled, I\'ve wanted to get a replacement.

i saw a program about it last night... nothing much to do with the console more of a about getting it done in time, i want one now... maybe a joint christmas pressie with the baby brother, and then get PS3 later on

That\'s what i wanted to say :(
Why PC (or better, why not XBox 360): it\'s too expensive, it\'s useless when u got a pc and no screen that can fully use the 360\'s abilities, the pc is holy, I can buy expansions later on withouth buying the full game twice or more times + the expansions, the pc is holy, I will propably get a new pc from my parents when this one isn\'t good enough for Oblivion, I\'m skilled at mouse and keyboard and not at controllers, the pc is holy, I don\'t have to find space for the box, I don\'t have to drag the box from the store to my home using only my bicycle while wearing a very, very long black dusty.
Ow, and did i mention the pc is holy? :D
About the name 360
there seems to be a strange occurence in which the 360 costs 360? in the local pc store...
