I know this is really short notice, but there will be a 2-3 hour role-play event starting in 30 minutes. If you\'re interested, meet outside the magic shop in 15 minutes. While you\'re waiting (event starts in 30), talk to your fellow adventurers and role-play. This event is focused on role-play, so make sure that you do it. Hope to see you there!
Note: there will be a 7-player max for this event. First come, first served.

Sorry for all the delays. We\'ve hit technical snag after technical snag. First we didn\'t have Demarthl, then we had Demarthl, then we didn\'t have Demarthl again. The items that we were supposed to have aren\'t there (we\'ve used other items: you\'ll have to pretend ;) ). And then I couldn\'t talk or hear while morphed blueCommand...!). And then the server crashed.
EDIT: the server-crash seems to have done-in jose (time-wise). Since we have no more GMs and I\'m not particularly up to running the whole thing on my own, I think this means we\'ll need to postpone the event. In addition, the server is still not up, so things are looking grim either way. The event will be rescheduled (probably to tomorrow or Sunday). Watch this thread for further updates!

So...I have no idea what you meant. How did the server crash at -that- exact time?
Remember what happened to the HAGs tournament? Got postponed, but never happened...The server seems to crash right when theres an event, why is this? This event will be postponed, but people will lose interest and it will never happen.

Nonsense, RP happens in PlaneShift anyway. Besides, I\'m definitely going to be there, and thus drag in a few people with me :) With NPC client down, people are pretty much starved for things to do, also. Think positive.

I know...But I hate when the server crashes right when something good if happening. Its like its timed, when the event starts, the timer hits 0 and the server crashes :|

Most of the time it does not crash when something good is happening, but you don\'t notice that, do you? :P

We\'re back on! It\'ll just be jose and me since Demarthl seems to be occupied, but we\'re planning to start in about an hour and run for 2-3 hours. If you\'re interested, meet outside the magic shop in 45 minutes. Remember, 7 players maximum, and role-play required (I don\'t want to see the epitome of evil chatting with Mother Teresa).

You may get your chance. I\'m giving it 15 minutes and then calling it off again (postponed till tomorrow probably. We\'ll pick up where we left off. Those who were participating can recruit IC those that want to join in)... server crashes... ugh. Why has the server been crashing so much anyway? >_<
EDIT: And, time\'s up. A server crash once-again ends the event. As I said above, the event will pick up where it left possibly tomorrow, or, if not, later in the week or possibly next weekend. New participants can be recruited at the discretion of the current participants (it\'ll be in-character, of course). Thank you all for coming out and sorry for the technical difficulties!

Alright, clearly the event didn\'t take place today, and I sadly don\'t have time to do it right now. I don\'t think I\'ll be able to do it tomorrow either, so we\'re looking at late-ish Tuesday (starting at 9:30-10 GMT), Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday (or on the weekend at another time). When are you all available? :)

I am new and haveent made achar yet but can I still join? If so then friday is cool inless its during school which I dont get out of tell 3:30pm central time.

Yes, there will be 7ish (i.e. from 5-10) people only (though exceptions will be made for those who participated previously and arrive late). Those who participated before will be the only ones allowed to directly join the event. They will be responsible for recruiting others to help. If no one who originally participated can make it, then I will begin again with people joining on a first-come, first-serve basis.

I dont know if I should even do it because when I went into the temple I was going at 0.1 fps a sec and when i got into the main room it just continued. So I dont knwo what to do, is it me or the server.I quit to make a new char but it then said the server was offline.

Server does have issues lately. If you had higher fps rate before then I think it is safe to assume it wasn\'t fault on your side.
Wonder if the server will last through the event this time though...

yah i had alot of fps but in some areas and if i try to leave the city i go to 0.1 fps. I move slowly out of that area and it goes back to normal.

I\'m waiting for jose to show up so we can get started. I don\'t think I\'d be able to do this on my own and jose seems to be conspicuously absent. If any of you can find him, we can get started. ;)
EDIT: *sigh* I\'ve been waiting, and no jose has appeared. The event may take place in a few hours if jose turns up, but for now, nothing\'s happening.

Please try to be a bit understanding. When the server crashes, there\'s nothing I can do. When jose\'s away, there\'s nothing I can do. Believe it or not, some people do have lives outside of Planeshift which makes pulling off weekday events difficult.
Posting solely to laugh because the event hasn\'t happened isn\'t helpful or constructive in any way.
Samoth: Please make your own thread for that. This thread is about a specific event.
To everyone else: I\'m planning to run the event today, but I need to look up Demarthl and jose. I\'ll keep you posted on any news. If you want to be up to date real-time, join #planeshift-events on freenode.

In fact, it was a lot of running around (usually too far and somewhere wrong), splitting our group and getting taken together again by GMs moving us, and misunderstanding the hints. And Talad\'s shouting that the Magic Shop would be a key, was not too helpful because there was a crowd like never before.
One of the main reasons (besides my old computer, which starts to rattle like a snake each time a player/npc comes into visibility range) was probably that I missed one rule: We should not split and search independently for each required ingredient, but instead stay together. :baby:
For the next events, I hope that story creators will find some more specialised tasks for different types of participants. When Cha0s invited me in the IRC channel, I thought that my role as \"scientist\" would be special and appreciated, but in fact, it was not really important who took which part.
Please don\'t get me wrong: It was some fun at the end. I just wanted to tell you my ideas what could be made better next time.

Thank you for your comments. I\'m considering how we can best appeal to multiple professions and ideologies. I\'ve been talking to the devs about adding some commands to make certain things less challening and hopefully the next update will make these events a lot easier. For now, events will probably not require specialty abilities because it is hard to do. However, I\'ve made a suggestion which should remedy this.
For now, I will try to make events better organized and cut down running. I\'ve actually had an interesting idea for the next one and I\'ll be considering it. Look out for more events in the next few days!

Make sure to warn me ahead of time about it, by the time I looked back at this post, the event was already over >.>

Just hang out in #planeshift-events if you\'re on IRC. The warning is generally going to be somewhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours in advance of these events (these are \"small\" events). Once things get moving, these small events will have no forum warning and will simply happen to people online.
Big events, once we get there, will have anywhere from a few days to a few weeks notice, depending on size.
EDIT: New role-play event! Be outside Harnquist\'s in 15 minutes if you want to participate. (This is intentionally short notice. The trend is less and less notice... Eventually there won\'t be any notice and you\'ll need to be in-game in the right place at the right time. Major events, as I said, will have a lot more notice). This is again first-come, first-served, taking around 10 people max.
EDIT: And... event canceled... due to server-crashes... sadly.

We just barely started. And then it crashed. If we do it tonight (unlikely), it\'ll be from scratch. Otherwise, it\'ll be sometime next week.

Crashes every time something starts, shouldn\'t you warn the Devs about these things so they can quickly setup the server again if it crashes? I know it\'s highly unlikely, but it seems like they should have some control over it.

acraig was actually there and is working on the server now. It seems to be crashing on startup.
EDIT: server back up. Don\'t think the event will be happening tonight, though. Keep your eyes here just in case...

Does the server really \"crash\" or does it just assume that? If you read it carefully, it says \"The server has stopped responding, it has most likely crashed.\"
Most likely, but maybe not, it could be considering server lag to be a simple crash, and then it shuts down the server because of it. Maybe if it was let go a bit longer before the warning comes up, it could return to normal itself.
