Title: Download a relighted ojaroad map here
Post by: LigH on November 15, 2005, 04:40:08 pm
For those who did not have enough time (or computer experience) to relight the Ojaveda road on their own - download ojaroad01.zip here (http://rapidshare.de/files/7672178/ojaroad01.zip.html) (11.522.229 bytes).

Click on the \"Free\" button and wait several seconds for the real download link to appear (except you have a premium account).

NOTE: This file may be replaced on an update. So either keep a copy of it elsewhere, or set it to read-only.

The correct handling would be:
But this is a little bit more expensive, of course...

I\'m sure lots of enkidukais will welcome this addition, will make their road journeys safer through the hills.
And for the ones that go sporadically there, it removes the use of -fullbright, so thanks.

There is still one drawback:

No ambient light in the forest. Therefore, really black places here and there. But... maybe a little borrowed time until the developers will provide a really correctly lit version one day.

There is the relight option on the setup screen, but it also crashes with the ojaroad map. The ojaroad map is unique because it has only one light sorce and that could be the reason for crashes.

I use a program that comes with CrystalSpace called walktest. It has the same -relight option than Planeshift and doesn\'t crash on the ojaroad map.

I did it this way:

- Walk to the Ojaveda road, look for a lonely place.
- Quit PlaneShift.
- Start \"psclient -relight\"
- Wait until the map is relighted and loaded. (Took 1 hour for my old bread box.)
- Quit PlaneShift, backup the new ZIP archive.
__

Using the walktest application, and the \"saveworld\" command, created a world file that made PlaneShift crash. I don\'t know if I used an unsupported version (maybe walktest was too new for PlaneShift?).

I have compiled both CrystalSpace and Planeshift by myself and CrystalSpace version is the same that is used by Planeshift. There might be differences if you use a precompiled version of walktest.

After every update I run walktest art/world/*.zip to relight everything and haven\'t encountered any problems so far.

Bereror:

Because I\'m not into C programming, and don\'t own any C compiler, I never compiled them on my own. I used the precompiled tools from crystalspace.org (Version 0.99.0.0 Win32).

So, I downloaded the .zip, but where do I unzip it to?

Edit: Upon further investigation, I figured out how to solve this issue.  Disregard this post.

Bump for new players.

Illori

I\'ll let this bump be for now, but please don\'t do that to threads in the future ;) Posts need to have some content in them. --Karyuu

Karyuu posted this in another thread just a scroll away:
What you do with the downloaded .zip file is go to C:\\Program Files\\PlaneShift Crystal Blue\\art\\world (on Windows, clearly) and replace your default ojaroad01.zip with the new one. PlaneShift should load without any problems.

This thread is no longer applicable.  The new release contains relighted maps.  (not on update servers yet, but they will be)
