Hello,
I\'ve tried to install the game and after searching a few deocumentations I get it to work.. but with a big problem... There are no texts anywhere. In the updater there are no texts on the buttons and no states are showing.
I installed on a Ubuntu Breezy 5.10 with an ATI card installed.
To install I first loaded the package from download page (PlaneShift_CBV0.3.011.linux.x86-2.run) then the two Patches for version 3.0.12 listed in this forum.
When starting the updater the following messages appeared:
Opening GLX2D
Creating Context

Visual ID: 0x00000027, 24bit TrueColor
R8:G8:B8:A8,

Mounting skin: /planeshift/art/apps.zip
Skipping \'YesNo\' because it\'s already loaded
NOTIFY: psUpdaterEngine initialized.
Doing a \'./updater --auto\' loads many updates, but the error still appears.
Can anyone help me? I\'ve found nothing about this issue by google or in this forum.
Thank you

I\'m having the same problem with complete lack of texts on gentoo :(
Anyone has any solution?

Are all your glx video divers set up and working properly, are you using the latest versions available for your hardware? Does \'glxinfo\' report extensions loaded, and glxgears work at reasonable ( ie > 1000 fps, preferably 2000, 3000 or more fps ) speeds?
One other suggestion, try a different skin - you pick this by running the pssetup program. Whatever the default for this was, I was missing icons and backgrounds for many dialog and menu windows, until I picked a skin and now its all fine. There are also video options that are changable in the setup program too that may help.
I\'m assuming that the problem with the updater is also present when running planeshift itself? I never use the GUI updater but the text equivalent ( updater -auto ), which I find is faster and less obtrusive.

I\'m running a Debian. ?Perhaps because the Ati Drivers?

Yes, have those problems as well...
Debian Sarge, kernel 2.6.15, Xorg 6.8
ATI 9200, fglrx 8.20.8, 24 bit color depth
glxinfo, glxgears and bzflag show that DRI etc. works fine, but updater, pssetup and psclient don\'t display any text.
