Perhaps that\'s because you spawned at the bottom of it and you only see darkness around you.
Try the following, go to planeshift folder and edit updaterconfig.xml, search for active id and change it to active id= 3 That will ensure that the next time you launch the updater (once you\'ve saved the changes) it will try to use the 3rd mirror, which has proven to have a correct version of the deathrealm.

Yea he can see fine because i believe that i ran accross him while I was trying to find my way out... STILL in the death realm but my game crashed. Imperial I would suggest maybe searching through the newbie forum for a post explaining how to get out

If you ask me, the best and most \"realistic\" way to get out is to hook up with others in the DR who are more experienced with being dead. They may let you follow them out.

The probelm with that is that most experienced players don\'t end up in the Death Realm. Ususally it\'s the inexperienced ones that do. I must have asked 13 people roaming about for help on how to get out and they were just as clueless as I was.

If they do end up in the DR, they manage to run off and get out so quickly that it\'s impossible to ask them for help, much less follow them. I spent a good while in there before I gave up, deleted my character and started over. It\'s fustruating.

You can ask for help in the Help tab of your chat window, you can try to catch a GM and explain your (long-winded) dilemma, if nothing else works :) It\'s tough, but it\'s supposed to be. There are always ways to get out.

nattuo,

EDIT:

Thanks for editing your message  and welcome to the community :) .

is it really necessary to post the answer to something (even though it\'s not a quest) when the players themselves are supposed to figure it out themselves? at most, offer a hint or let them follow you, but don\'t go around posting the answers everywhere. it just makes the game too easy and less realistic.

edit: ahh problem solved. darn you bereror! you beat me with the click of a mouse button. ^_^

and it\'s no trouble, nattuo. you didn\'t know, so no harm done. just for yourself and for other new players for next time: the game isn\'t meant to be easy, it\'s meant to be challanging. and if we told you, then it would make it far too easy.

besides, challanges makes men from mice. *flexes silly girl muscles*

XD

Meet my chara when the server is back up and i\'ll show u way out. And if you\'re captured in the bottom, try to type /die  and if that doesn\'t work, delete and restart your character.

Deleting shouldn\'t be necessary at all unless there is a serious DB mix-up or something similar. Being stuck somewhere is definitely not a good reason. You can always ask a GM to move you.

I highly doubt that :) Type \"/who game\" and a list of available GMs will come up. And even if no one is available at the time, you can always write a petition and a GM will get to it as soon as he or she comes on. You can always come into IRC (server freenode, channel #planeshiftgm-talk) and ask available GMs to come in-game to move you.

Or you could have extended a bit more effort and searched through the forums in the first place, as this information has been posted many times before.

The TWO hintS anyone can give you without ruining your experience getting out is head to the library, then venture into the darkness BUT WATCH YOUR STEP
                              ^ _^

another quick hint. It isn\'t noticable but you should be able to spot it if you look close.

There\'s a library? Or should I say... there\'s actually an exit? Lol. I feel like I\'ve been stuck in the death realm for ages!

Only once did I find a group of people that were getting out but thing is... I slipped and fell (and died) while following them!

Will this never end?

Use your camera and look around you before you jump. It really isn\'t that hard to find your way out, just follow the path and when in doubt wait and watch what other people do. Again I stress use you carmera to look around you and your surroundings.

/me wishes you good luck

Hi,

I agree with everyone that people should figure their own way out of the DR (and that they should experiment with the Planeshift world in general) but my problem was that a staircase I needed was completely black (and so invisible.)  I don\'t think anyone should need to experiment with completely invisible staircases early on in the game, and especially not in the DR, where the noobz are just trying to grok what the heck is going on in this game.

If you are standing on the red platform that seems to go nowhere, try going up an invisible staircase to your left.  Hug the wall to your left closely enough not to fall, but also walk far enough away from the wall so that you can progress up the (what was for me) invisible staircase without running into the wall on your left.  After I reached the top I was able to see everything (no invisible walkways!) so now you can have fun exploring the DR and finding your way out.

If you fall or otherwise get stuck in what seems like a permanent way, try typing /die or /unstick (or is it /unstuck?) into your chat box.

Hello,

There have been other threads that have dealt with the blackness problem (especially in the MacOS forum). Do a search on \"-fullbright\" or \"relight\" for more info. The Death Realm was almost impossible for me until I got help with using -fullbright. That staircase isn\'t supposed to be invisible. It\'s a bug. Good luck!

P.S. It\'s /unstick. :)

Hello again,

If you try /die and find yourself still at the bottom of the DR, you kmay have to run the updater again. Then /die again. You should then be in the proper place.

The DR is way too freaking hard with stock options imho. So far my first charactor has spent at least 90% of its \"life\" in the DR, first time I fell because there almost aren\'t any  lights in the game and so I couldn\'t see that there was a HUGE drop down to the next level, nor that there was even an edge. Second time I tried out the Sewers, two greedly [insert plural noun] were hogging the Rat\'s to themselves and so I had to venture futher into the Sewers, long story short I died while loading the Plazza. Which seems to me like a MAJOR bug.
As soon as I can I\'ll check out the -fullbright and relight stuff and see if that helps.
