Jesus Christmas... when the hell are film producers going to pull their heads out of that cozy little hole of theirs and understand we could give a crap about their lame, half-assed low budget plotless popularity-driven pieces of garbage with no more rights to claim the names they supposedly represent. This makes me so mad. They ruined Tomb Raider, they ruined Spirits Within, they ruined Doom, and now -this- looks like an absolute massacre.
No wonder non-geeks think us geeks are such... geeks. They take one look at these \'movies\' of the games we love so much and think \"who the f*** would like this rubbish\".

It\'s a shame games are being represented like this, atleast there are some game\'s they can\'t make into movies because their either too insane like The Sim\'s or already take most of there material from movies like GTA.

The only game to movie conversion that \"may\" be good is the Halo movie....because the director who is doing it rocks

Hahahahah... oh god, he\'s doing Postal too!!? Well that\'s -definitely- not going to be a film that sticks true to the game. Not unless he wants to get on the bad side of the Animal Rights activists by displaying a cat being shoved on the end of a rocket launcher and getting fired into a wall.
Not to mention the peeing... good lord, the peeing...

A Halo movie will end up being crappy because it will be one of those \"you played the game now you HAVE TO see the movie\" thing\'s and if Uwe even think\'s about making a Zelda movie I\'ll track him down.

not just any old pee but FIRE pee... and if that wont give people the ammo to say that gamers are mental murder pots then i dont know what will....
edit: and about mr U... on a recent TV interview he complained that he kept getting hate mail from gamers as well as death threats if he makes another movie.....but he still dident understand why people where sending the letters....

Planeshift would be a cool movie.It would be cartoonish like Shrek except a little more darker and it could be done like pulp fiction,following one or two people from each race as theycross eachother\'s path\'s.

Seriously though; My point lays basically in the fact that if a game is good enough, you don\'t need a movie for it. Small animatics, cutscenes and other videos all can be emotionally gripping and exciting when pulled of right and put in the right places. Halo, Grand Theft Auto, and of course the Final Fantasy series (although the series was still pretty spectacular without them previous to VII). We shouldn\'t be blaming just Hollywood. We already expect them to be money grubbing scoundrels with a blind eye to the feeling of common gamers (and people in general, really :rolleyes: ) . We should however be placing our blame on developers and other owners of the creative liscense for letting these things become reality, AND for making terrible cutscenes and putting them in the wrong places in the first place.
On a final note, I think the main inspiration for this was in Mortal Combat\'s runaway success way back when. It\'s success is truly an enigma. Well then again, it was somewhat entertaining after I ignored the massive cranial hemorages... :O

Good News for Metal Gear fans.
MGS3:Subsistence will have 3 discs and the third one there will be a 3 hour long movie edited from in-game cut-scenes and new material directed by Hideo Kojima himself. :)

Yeah, FF Spirits Within. What a total failure that was. Never heard of FF: Unlimited, but FF7: Advent Children was, thankfully, the redeemer of the rubbish Spirits Within turned out to be. Advent Children is teh worthy of the Final Fantasy name. :]

spirts was a decent movie if the ff tag wasn\'t attached to it. unlimted, well, was a poor licencing choice, and it was run over roughly 13 hours rather then the 2.
