Firstly, let me start off by saying hello to the board members and that this looks like a really cool game to bludge with over the holidays :D. Here are a few questions.
1) Will my notebook PC run this game?
I have:
Windows XP SP2
Direct X 9.0b
Ati Radeon 64mb video card
2.66 Ghz P4 CPU
438mb RAM (actually its 512mb, but it\'s shared memory with the video card)
2) What\'s there to do in the game? What kind of skills can you have?
3) Can you kill other human players? Because there\'s this other MMORPG where you can only kill when your a certain distance away from the main cities (runescape).
4) Are there any patches to this game since I didn\'t see any for any future updates? Because Im on modem and re-downloading a 260mb game would be a pain.
5) When you die, do you lose all your items?
6) Finally, Ive read the players guide, what is the guild wars anyway? Do you belong to a guild and how?
Well that\'s just about it. Thanks for any help! :)

1 yes. it\'s about what i\'m using
2. mine, talk to people. later when the critters start playing nice you can play with them too.
3. yes... but be careful. if you don\'t do it right it will be frowned upon.
4. many patches. but the updater will tackle them all. the first one may be hefty.
5. no. but you can choose to surrender two. i think. this is new i\'m sure.
6. no at first. you can join or start one that suits your tastes. not sure about guild wars.

1. Yes
2. Fighting with NPCs is currently broken as was mentioned above. It should be fixed soon. And by \"talk to people\" he meant \"role-play.\" There\'s a guide to role-playing stickied around here somewhere. I suggest you read it.
3. This is not the purpose of the game and should only be done for in-character role-play reasons.
4. Yes, there are updates, but the updater downloads only changed files. After the first big update, you should be fine.
5. No. And you can not choose to surrender two. That was a proposal, not an implemented idea. When you die you go to the Death Realm and you must find your way out as a penalty. It takes about 5 minutes after you find your way.
6. No, you do not need to join a guild, though there are benefits. Make sure you choose a guild for in-character reasons, though, not just because they offer you money, weapons, etc.
As I\'ve mentioned, Planeshift is about role-playing. If you aren\'t willing to role-play (or learn to role-play), then Planeshift is not for you. That said, if you\'re interested in role-playing, we\'ll welcome you with open arms and you should have a very good time playing Planeshift. :)
