Ok, I have searched high and low to find the guild perfect for me. I tried the crystal warriors, got ignored. Tried Shinito Blades, not going to recreate it. Then everything else didn\'t quite catch my eye. I would like to find a guild that isn\'t that much about finding wars to get into, but helping people or defending ourselves when we need. I am all about helping people. I was in the sewers one day killing off rats. When a complete stranger walks up and asks to take turns. He was trying to use a pickaxe but wasn\'t too succesful (turns out he had it in the wrong hand) so I ended up giving away my sword so he could kill easier. Then once I got the money I went out and bought him a sword. In other words, I would like to be in a guild that looks to help out others instead of murdering them. (yea I know, the story was kinda boring and not really needed...) If you are interested in recruiting me, send me a PM or a /tell Lenek

The only guilds you\'re likely to find in the forums are the ones that are already listed in the sticky. Just so you know :) Maybe you\'d be better off asking about such a guild in-game?
-
I hear the Defenders might be looking for members. As their names suggests, that\'s all they do; Defend and help others. Look for the guys with the two claymores in each hand.
-
i would say ATLEAST 70% of all guilds are for helping others and doing good, i don\'t know how you couldn\'t find one, i am annoyed there is that many of them, mind you though, i reckon DC is a great good guild (not exactly a helping others guild though) and GK was definetly one of the best guilds for helping others, so there is a few places to look (GK has gone a bit unactive though)

The guild knights and the dragon council are your best bets.
The guild knights have a reputation for being noobish, while the dragon council have a reputation for being elitist. Both place strong emphasis on helping other people and having fun.
-
Unhappy with restrictive guilds? Not too randy about fighting people? Intended to help others? Interested in preserving individuality?
Janner\'s Way is always open for this kind of members...
-
or you can be freeeeee!
like me
The guild knights have a reputation for being noobish
... one of their members gave me my first dark weapon of my own (at the time i was only borrowing one.) on the condition that i teach him to teleport, he was a little dissapointed with the outcome.

If you\'re totally unsatisfied with all the guilds there are...there is the final option...CREATE YOUR OWN GUILD!
You\'ll need 20000 trias and 5 members in all to start one...take a long time according to what I heard. Might be nice to see some new guilds popping up around PS :)

Ah yes, the guild which is for people who don\'t believe in guilds! There\'s no better way to express your individuality than by joining a collective. ;)
-
I would say: look around on the websites, gather information about some guilds, also the smaller ones like The Way of the Hammer. I\'m sure you\'ll be happy with every guild, since (nearly) every guild treats his members with respect...

Well, I would love to create the Shinito Blades again, but there is no way I could be leader. Here\'s why: My character has already completed his life\'s mission, thus no longer has a need to fight against evil. He still helps people, but not in a guildly way.

I might have something for you. I\'ll PM you when it\'s more formalized.

Guys I gotta say, when I created this post I never expected to get such nice replies and offers. I logged on today and saw that there were 11 replies and I expected them all to say \"Maybe if you put a little effort in your search you would find what you want, No0b!\" If Zanzibar and Suno_Regin get the Shinito Blades back that would be my first option. I will deffinately consider Dragon Council, Janners Way, Defenders, and Guild Knights. Send me some tells I will look at some information on these guys and hopefully find what I\'m looking for!

Well, I don\'t think Suno intends to restart the Shinoto Blades. Based on his role-play store slash character history, I\'m not sure it would be appropriate. Their mantra though was something like \"peace through conflict\", so your character has to have a rather specific personality to fit in with it.

Well those are fine choices indeed.. but I would like to ask.. how many guilds have you looked into besides the ones you have joined? How manys threads have you read? And how serious are you? Are you interested into just having fun and helping other do so?
My best advice... if your gonna decide to join another guild then do plenty of research or you will just end up making another thread to find a new guild :P. A good thing to do is look into Organizations to get involved with as well. :D
-
ok.. I have looked into every guild posted for about the first 3 pages of this topic. The only one I have joined is Janners way, which I joined today. as for the threads... Well I can\'t count that high... I\'m serious enough to daily search the forums to find the guild that is just right for me. Sending PM\'s, Tells and anything I can to get a hold of people. I am interested in helping others but I would rather get involved in the community and hoping to get a very high amount of respect from my peers. I figure if I don\'t find what I\'m looking for in Janners Way after so long, I will be known a little better and can find the perfect guild for me then
(btw these are all answers to Valbrandr\'s questions if you haven\'t figured that out yet.)

I\'m not sure that Janner\'s guild is particularly respected above any of the others, but I hope you enjoy your time with them.
-
The Janner\'s Way was actually the guild I was about to purpose.
Besides some personal quarrels of little importance, I don\'t think the Janner\'s Way has negative relations with other guilds or people.
The guild\'s structure lacks an offensive part and its members often help out people.
I can\'t think of another guild that can match your ideals like this one. Not for the moment.
Never cease to look for better, even within your new guild. Good luck.
-
Of course I\'m still looking. I\'m hoping for that one day that I find a guild that is EXACTLY what I want and will be a well respected guild. But I guess I got a little while to go until I find that. Or until I get the trias and the members to make it

To do this does not mean you have to join a guild...... There are a number of ways to develop respect. (1) help newbie\'s (2) Make connection with the people who are active the most and make friends. This brings me to number.... (3) Role play and create a story. (4) Have knowledge on the back ground of yliakum by reading the history on the planeshift main website. (5) be active in the forums. (6) tour the sites of the guilds and know what they are about, and what their guild stands for. (7) once you have knowledge on the game be an advisor (8) take place in the events that are set up in the game such as tournaments. (9) and the list can go on I am sure.....
To me a guild will not gain you respect from others but only those in your guild. Your guild name maybe respected for what your guild stands for, but that doesn\'t mean you will be. I think it is up to you to make your goals become a reality.
Also there is a thread in the forums that have a list of guilds and their links to their websites. It is in the guilds forums and the thread is called the guilds list. It is at the very top and it is stickied. Good luck to you and hope you enjoy your time in Yliakum.....
-
I\'m not hoping to get respect from being in the guild. The thing I\'m hoping to get out of that is to be noticed more because the guild name might catch their attention. I\'m not sure if anyone on here had ever played Tony Hawks Underground online but there were \"clans\" that were so emmence and soo strong and highly respected. Those people would be looked up to for that and then respected for their abbility... idk exactly how I\'m going to work that phillosophy into this game but hey, a guy can dream can\'t he?
-
Ah, if the Ordo Illuminatus was still around... ;) Of course there\'d be no chance of them accepting a member just to let him or her wear their badge and show it around. Most truly respected guilds have done something to achieve that respect, and expect all of their members to carry on that way - and expect new members to contribute.
In the end though, it\'s not the guild in PlaneShift that commands respect, but the people in it. So even with a fancy name under yours, you might get a few minutes of glory, but then people will analyze you and if something is lacking, you\'ll bring the guild down.

um... \"with the two claymores in each hand\"? I know you mean a claymore in each hand...
Unless you are Hercules or of similar strength, this should not even be possible. A claymore blade over 1 meter long (~107 cm) with a 33 cm long grip. It is meant to be a two handed weapon. IMHO, the devs should fix this.
I mean really, have you ever held one in real life? They are a struggle and I\'m 6\'0\" 215 lbs.
I can\'t even imagine how unbalanced you\'d be.
Araye
p.s. I\'m not attacking your guild identity or weapon choice, only its feasibility.
-
Yes, two claymores is a bit...much. Maybe they should make the Claymore a bit larger, and call it a two handed weapon.
-
what did holding a claymore have to do with this topic?
Guild Knights are no longer active, DC is a great guild but requires good expectations and is VERY well organised, if you are looking for those \"if i ask you now can i be in straight away\" guilds there are plenty (usually) in-game, i was bored of the same \'lets all help noobies\" guilds so WHY are people continuing to create more, if you look at it this way, a popular guild is a guild that is different not one thats follows every other guild like sheep..
@Valbrandr well done on becoming a GM
-
either way... I was accepted into Crystal Warriors (forgot to post it on here to let you guys know). They weren\'t ignoring me.. the person just doesn\'t check forums often and was gone for about a week.
-
Crystal Warriors... so you must have been impressed by the beautiful Shaba Acidheart. :] Good choice, we have some friends there.
-
Crystal Warriors was a good guild if i remember correctly, they were rich as well almost all of them had those uber weapons

Though, that doesn\'t have alot to do with making a good guild.
-
well have to disagree with you there Drey.
Ofcourse it\'s not everything but to be rich and all have good weapons it means the guild has to have several active members and in my book activity is the first must for a good guild.
Ofcourse with only activity you don\'t have a good guild, but think the Crystal Warriors aren\'t really lacking there either.
-
You give up? You give up??!?! Who said you have the RIGHT to give up??!? You get back out there and keep looking for a guild that suits you! And I mean now! *ahem*
In other news, Pestilence, of course Drey\'s right, he wouldn\'t get to be Drey if he wasn\'t right.
-
Sorry to hijack the thread, but I thought it was long dead anyways ;)
PHINEHAS?!?!!? You posted here and didn\'t say hi to us in URPS chat? Why you !!!!! lol = anyways great to hear from you.
Money and uber weapons and activity aren\'t necessarily critical for a good guild, but I duobt those things hurt the guild either... well unless your guild RP\'s poor homeless beggars or something.
-
We are good people too :) can\'t forget that. Always helping eachother and anyone that asks. Even though I am just a young one, I have adapted the way we act. Giving up all we have to help a friend in need, but only to those that deserve it ;). Either way... I shall be staying witht he CW for a long while. Then maybe one day when I think I would be a good guild leader... I might create a guild... but the entry will be a little bit stricter... more like a religeon than a guild lol
