Title: Win98 + Soundblaster Live.
Post by: Cwvym Purh on December 08, 2005, 02:38:50 am
Sigh. I no longer have this system, but when I did I had crashes that went away once I dumped the creative sound drivers. This totally eliminated NWN crashes, and crashes from other games. I was amazed that the sound drivers could cause so much trouble, trouble I normally blamed in my mind on the game programmers.

For those of you stilll using win98 and having a soundblaster live!, you allready know creative labs has not put out a new driver in years.
Fear not. If you are proficient enough to read and follow instructions [not mine], and do not fear having to re-install win98 if something bad happens, you may want to try the KX project drivers.

For me it was days of effort, some reinstalling win98 after screwing up something, but in the end, my game crashes went away. Something the vendor of my sound card [Creative Labs] was unable or unwilling to do.

I have a new machine now, but I hope this helps those that are near their wit\'s end. I make no guarantees for this game, but perhaps the PS devs should take win98 + soundblaster + creative drivers into account, if they have not allready.
