Title: Freezes as the world loads
Post by: Amany on December 12, 2005, 10:18:03 pm
I\'ve never played before, so I don\'t know what\'s normal or not, but the game always freezes while loading the world.

I tried updating it again, but that didn\'t work either.

Edit: Hmmm...I apologize.  I should\'ve just read Ayumiyume\'s post, for I have the same problem.

Made sure to follow the several suggestions others gave in that thread, and stuck after it all just the same? :>

I changed the skin to stone, but I don\'t know how to disable sound.
I can\'t find it in the options.

Also, I get the message saying, \'low on virtual memory\' and before that, \'error 6FD33CF8.\'

Options for sound are in the setup too: Software, DirectSound 3D, OpenAL, and Off. Concerning the low virtual memory, what is your video card, and do you have the most recent OpenGL drivers for it? Read the Performance Tip (http://planeshift.oodlz.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=12222&boardid=33) stickied in the forums, and see if anything helps.

How embarassing.
I thought \'off\' was \'crr.\'

I don\'t think I even HAVE a game card...I\'ll have to go buy one.
Yeah, that\'s probably the problem...

Although, I set the game to 16 bit, which should be something my computer can handle.

Everyone has a video card, it\'s a vital part of any PC -  otherwise your machine would refuse to show anything, or even work ;) Problems arise however when video cards aren\'t strong enough to handle applications a user would like to run, such as graphic-intense games. If you\'re on Windows, finding out what card you have is as simple as:

It says, \'NEC MultiSync XV17+ (-2) on INtel(R) 828103 Graphics Controller\'  ...  uhhh...
Edit:  I can\'t go above 24 bits, I think, but 24 isn\'t an option in the setup...

A better graphics card is rather necessary for intensive games, unfortunately.. :} This one falls below the minimum requirements by quite a bit, and you\'d definitely benefit from an upgrade.

Buy a better card :) What is the rest of your system like?

The rest is just fine, I\'d say.
I just need a new card.

Thank you for your help.
