It\'s a known bug.  The server can get that way sometimes, and ignore requests to begin the creation process.  Unfortunately, you may just have to wait until the server starts working correctly again.

This time that creation was blocking, we were able to investigate why, and have a good lead on what the problem is. Hopefully this problem will not happen again before a patch is applied.

I must say, after two hours downloading the file and another hour updating...this is not quite the welcome I had expected.

I\'m really sorry to hear that, but this is after all a pre-alpha tech demo - far from a complete, truly newbie friendly MMORPG. Unfortunately you stumbled upon it at a bad time, but things like this do get fixed, as proven before, and many other problems are tackled as well. Just hang in there :)

There\'s a big update comming soon, and this and other issues should be fixed.
