Title: Port 7777
Post by: IronSnake on December 26, 2005, 09:16:42 pm
I read the sticky and I\'m pretty sure the reason I can\'t get on the server is Port 7777.

\"Ensure that you are not behind a hardware or software firewall, or, if you are, that you have allowed incoming traffic on port 7777. Note that if you are on a college campus, school campus, or at a company building, you will probably be behind a firewall; if you are, your only option is to ask your network administrator to open port 7777 for incoming traffic. \"

Now, I am completely computer retarded. So my question is how do I check/make port 7777 open? I am on an iBook G4. Mac 10.3.9

7777 is a bad choice of port number, for various reasons, and is blocked by some ISPs.  This will change next release if things go as planned.

Go to Systems prefs / filesharing. Under firewall add a new, fill in port 7777 and 3000.
The same goes for any hardware firewall/gateway.

In my case I could not  find or login to the server if port 3000 was cloesd.

Hope this help you.

As already mentioned in another thread (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=21285&boardid=17):

UDP packets need to be sent to Port 7777 of the game server laanx.fragnetics.com - it is most probably not important which port your client will use to exchange packets. I was able to play through a NAT router with no special port forwarding.
