Dear Moogie,
I saw your signature. Even if I understand your feelings, knwoing that there is nothing I can do to make you change your decision. I still wanted to write this thread that you will or not lock or delete...
I am not from your PS generation. I was a n00b translating \"Mogura\'s 40 MB questions and answers\" when you were already well known as Moogie.
I found a family too, and since that time I saw them going away...
But even if we did not meet often ingame I was always happy to know that someone could stay a long time enjoying PS and keeping a community alive.
I discovered later that there was no unique PS Community but a set of PS communities.
In each of this groups you could bring moderation, sometimes derision but everytime it seemed that you were the one with the just decision. I think that is why you became moderator, op, ...
Your judgement and spirit will be missed. I do not feel like being part of the family you found when you arrived in PS, but I feel like one of the many you could consider as children of this family. Without you, we would not have decided to settle down in PS looking for open discussions and avoiding useless flames.
You helped so much that some forgot that it was not due to them. They should be thanksful, and I bet that many are.
This should have been a PM, but I prefer to thank you openly and let everyone willing to, join me in this thread.
Thank you Moogie
-
I couldn\'t agree more. Thank you.
-
Dear Moogie,
I\'ve been around since the wars where fought with sticks and stones, sometimes actively, sometimes not. Through all this time you\'ve been one of the great Planeshifters that I\'ve stayed in the PS community for.
Thank you Moogie
-
I can\'t add anything to that.
thanks and good luck for the future
-
Aye, I didn\'t know Moogie very well either but knew of the work and time you put in to the community, even from the way others spoke about you.. It\'s obvious you made an impact here and it is truly sad to see such an icon leaving us.
So where ever you\'re heading to next, you have mine and no doubt many others best wishes.
/me waves a fond farewell \"take care Moogie\" :)
-
Moogles Mogura Moogie... I\'ve not been around much since I came to these boards in may 2002. You stayed. You always stayed. Thru the numerous times that I came back I always found at least one person I knew from older days and that seemed to be you.
See, I still know when you became moderator :D The proudness of having a little picture under your name WIII :D I still know the numerous times I got caught spamming by you...always me and Arzosah spamming :D
Well anyway it saddens me that someone like you is leaving. Not leaving ilke I did a couple of times, always to come back, but leaving for like...always. Never to come back. It saddens me.
But anyway, you always gotta do what you wanna do.
Best wishes and thanks

Oh well, I\'ll still remember you from the times when you were a newbie in the Followers of Pooky guild, who didn\'t know how to check the guildmembers list :P
No one believes you were once a newbie, so there has to be at least one person that does xD
We had huggable days as well as times of conflicts, but luckily it\'s not the latter now. What can I say? This place will lack the furball with an iron fist, I guess. Still I envy you for the will you show to fulfill your decission ;)
And I suppose you won\'t see this thread unless someone pokes you to it. So just in case I will poke you, okay? Okay.
-
Moogie is not truely leaving, she\'ll always be here, in the hearts of those who remain.

...so from now on parties have to come along without a spinning moogie?
-
WTF? SHES LEAVING???
Are you serious!... why? when? how come? Were all gunna die
-
I don\'t want to sound rude or anything, but am I the only one realising Moogie made that decission long time ago and she wasn\'t really active in PS for a while now..?
-
don\'t think so, those who knew her better, like yourself would have picked up on it a lonmg time ago, and some subconciously figured it out too
-
I was torn between posting here or not, after Draklar showed me... This thread is making me cry...
I\'m not one to leave a place and turn up a week later as if I never decided to go. I think those who do that never really thought about their decision, not like I have. And maybe all they really wanted was the attention, to know that some people care about them. I didn\'t post a thread about me or wave it around looking for love or thanks, but... to those who\'ve posted here, and any who post after I\'m gone, you can\'t possibly know how much I appreciate it. I always have.
I\'ve never been perfect. I\'ve had many enemies, but I never stopped trying to make every single person my friend. And I think many people were my friends, superficially or not, and I definitely come out of this community now with some of the greatest friends I\'ve ever known, online or not. How can I say how eternally thankful I am to every single friend I\'ve ever had here, those who helped me when I needed help, those who I had fun with, those who talked with me on lonely nights?
I\'ve made many mistakes. Some of which, I\'ll never live down or forget. I got close to people I shouldn\'t have. And I distanced myself from pure angels out of the fear of my own inadequacy. I tried to pretend I\'m stronger than I was- and when the battles came to me, I often broke down, depressed, in tears, lost. I was never really cut out to do such a hard job as moderating, and... it definitely changed me. I lost much of my goodwill, my softness... I know that, because I remember how I used to be. So much happier...
I digress. My point is that I leave here stronger, more mature. My sense of fun and humour remain, and I\'m still generous enough for the world I see in my eyes. But PS was a learning experience for me; it threw down the veils of my niavety (and in some cases tore them to shreds). But I have many more good memories of this place than I do bad. I remember all the guilds that took me in and the people I knew in them. In particular, Felines Lair, will always have a place in my heart, long after it\'s gone. And Ayshe, who became my closest friend in the world. And still is.
Infact, many people will still know me on MSN, and any friend of mine is fully welcome to add me to their list, but I do have a condition. Know that I\'m no longer a PSer. I\'m no longer a developer, a moderator, a GM. I don\'t exist here anymore- so please, I don\'t want to talk about PlaneShift. :) I don\'t mind reminiscing about how it used to be, but I\'d rather not be told \"current events\" like whoever zanzibar has decided to pick a fight with next, or what tyrade of superiority Verliit has gone on now. That stuff is no longer valid topic of interest for me, and that\'s my one single request if you are to add moogiefluff AT gmail DOT com to your MSN. :)
Ouch, I didn\'t mean to write a speech, but I couldn\'t just not say goodbye to everyone who deserves to know I appreciate them. But now it\' time to go... I\'ll miss you.
Oh, one last thing... Shanak is the single person who ensured my stay here for so many years. Without him standing there in the labyrinth to greet me and answer my newbie questions, I would have become lost, bored, and left just as quickly as I came. My entire existance as a PSer hinged on this one person. If he ever comes back, please let him know for me how much I appreciate him in particular.
Thanks.
~Moogie

I dont know which is sadder: that moogie left or that I didnt know. :\\
Like with Janner, I am sorry to see you go and wish I could do something to change your mind, but you are right: As one of the reactionarys that quits in anger and then comes back, I can see that you did not make your decision lightly.
Good Luck

Hmm, who\'s going to show me to all those strange new Asian MMO(RP)Gs out there now that Moogie\'s gone. Not that I have much time for new games, but still...
Ooops, almost forgot, Cherppow, that drawing is awesome!
-
You shall be missed Moogie, an entire ballad would not be able to say all that you have done for this place. I wish you well on any future you decide.

I wholeheartedly support any charity organization which will come and make the distribution of rusty razor blades and documentation of their use to emos its goal. I will even be willing to donate to it, and point to this thread as a good source for a list of people who could use such razor blades and a detailed explanation of the exact way slicing should be performed.
Remember - Cut along the blue line, not across it.

I saw that you were leaving in you sig, but I didn\'t want to believe it. Such an important asset of the PS community leaving? So it\'s true.
You will be missed Moogie, everyone will remember you.
Good luck.
And talking about charity, rumour has it Moogie is in need of a
Wacom drawing tablet :)

Xalthar\'s post had a point in it, but I don\'t see the point in repeating it.
Show some goddamn respect.
-
She got an awesome tablet for Christmas, and is enjoying it thoroughly ;)
-
I think it would be nice to include Janner and Moogie in PS history in a way that leaves it open for them to come back and explains their absence. It would be a nice memorial.
I am not so tore up that I would kill myself, btw. Go practice your Jim Jonesing somewhere else.
:D
-
everyone knows she will be missed but she didn;t leave for attention, she left because she felt she wanted to, we all know she will be missed but lets not all go crying about, afterall she didn\'t want us to become emos... no one likes an emo..

You took the words out of my mouth...

I believe it should be up to them to create their own stories. If they feel they might return someday they can just make an RP explanation to their absence. :)
Good luck Moogie!
-
Burst out into tears
I...can\'t...believe you are gone...
What can I do now...I dreamt of you in my dreams, and in it an evil dragon took you away....I hate that evil dragon...why did it have to take you away!!!
Oh moogie You shall be missed
You were a fenki and so you hissed
You helped me out when I was new
And now I have no friends not even a few
Moogie you have to come back...
I have nothing to live now that you aren\'t here
If you don\'t come back I am going to cut myself with the spoon Xalthar gave me :\'(
Goes into a dark corner and cries

Moogie,
I regret that I never really got to know you, and I will miss your effective and often hilarious moderation. It was actually your wit that got me hooked on these forums in the first place, and then the forums helped me to realize what the PS community was like, which helped me to get even more hooked on the game itself. I will also miss your writings, for you are an excellent writer.
I don\'t feel that I know you well enough to add you to my MSN...so I hope you come by #planeshift (or any of the other PS related channels we both frequent) from time to time and say hello. I know, you won\'t want to talk about PlaneShift...but how often do we stay on topic?
You will be missed.

People dug themselves out of their holes to say this? Get over yourselves and ignore the thread, it is not a difficult thing to do.

I think RussianVodka\'s sig sums up what the average newbie sees of Moogie fairly well.
RussianVodka\'s sig
Q: How many Planeshifters does it take to expalin a simple concept to a newb?
A: Six. Five to argue on who\'s explanation is right, and Moogie to lock the thread.
That\'s all I saw of her until I got into IRC, but ... yeah... the post ends here....

*hug* you said it in a way my intelligence would not let me do, and would also end up as a deleted post.

Later Gator
Does this mean karyuu is the new thread lock-o-matic? :D

You managed to quote yourself instead of editing, Efflixi :> Fixed it some. Lock-o-matic? I\'d make no such denials in the Wishlist ;) Otherwise, unlikely.

Karyuu: thanks :)

but now to avoid going more off topic:

The only enemies I have are things like pride and the failures of memory. A person cannot be an enemy because, in the end, we are all on the same side.
Things like this happen all the time. She\'s not dieing, people. If she means so much to you, get her msn, join her \'new\' MMORPG, and write her the occassional letter. All this melodrama detracts from perspective.

Hmmh...interesting thing to state. *thinks a bit on this*
A person CAN be an enemy. Don\'t tell me George Bush is on my side, most peoples sides even. I consider him a threat for the world and the people and so on and so on. I\'m not going to make this into a discussion because as we all know people are pro him and people are contra him..
Buuuut for another example. I\'m from Belgium ey...Weell, you can\'t say Adolf Hitler wasn\'t our enemy right? You can\'t say he was on our side...Killed a couple of millions here. Soo...
Persons can be enemies because sides can differ quite a bit.
...Did I go off-topic? :D

George Bush and Hitler were both doing what they thought would make the world a better place. I could argue that the real enemy was Ignorance, Greed, and Hatred. And if you believe that the latter two both stem from ignorance, then you\'re only left with the one.
All of this is subjective of course.
-
Hmmh...you got a point there. It IS subjective, but I can agree with what you\'re saying. Best intentions can turn out horrible.
-

Well if Hitler had won WW2 we wouldn\'t have any terrorism now and we\'d probably be much more advanced technology wise... but there would be a lot of dead people and most of us wouldn\'t be here now. So it might not have turned out horrible depending on who you are. :)
*shrug* offtopic anyway. Moogie is on my msn list so I don\'t see what the fuss is :P
-
Stating all people want the world to be a better place isn\'t true anyway.
At best many want the world to be a better place for them. But I don\'t really want the world to be a better place for a random corrupted politician, so I don\'t see the logic behind this.
-
In a way you\'re right, Draklar, but I do think Zanzibar has a point. Except indeed it\'s not \"the world\", it\'s their vicinity, their country something like that. Everything George Bush does is to keep himself on top of everything, and to get money into america (eg. The war on irak, he made up a bunch of lies to be able to attack them, in my opinion only for the oil and for the sake of \"modern colonialism\" ). In case of Hitler, Germany was in crisis, severe crisis, and he thought it couldn\'t go on like that. So he said **** the system, got the power, and after that things got out of hand.
So they\'re not trying to improve the world, but their vicinity. But as Zanzibar says, loads of problems come out of ignorance, right?
EDIT: Typos
