Hey,
I have a low level character as of yet and I don\'t mind fighting the rats, it\'s just that there aren?t enough of them to fight. In later updates or releases I would like to see more fightable characters or at least make the respawn time of the rats after you kill them.
That is another thing. Maybe it\'s just me but when I die it takes quite a while to respawn. If we could speed that up that would be very helpful, at least to me.
Another idea on the amount of ratz, perhaps you could make like an arena or something where you could go to fight other players, animals, watch others fight, make bets, or put your familiar up against someone else\'s. This would create a place to gain money, experience and friends. But it would not even have to be other people you are fighting, it could be a deserted, broken down arena loaded with a bunch of low-level creatures all the way to high level creatures where everyone could go to fight.
Signed,
Chris
P.S. If any of this already exists and I am just missing the obvious, please let me know.

There is an Arena already in Hydlaa :) Ask around in-game, and I\'m more than sure that you will find a willing guide to show you the area. There have been large tournaments held there in the past, one quite recently, and several beasts and gladiators roam the corridors. Be careful if you venture in! More monsters and more variety of them has been requested many many times already, and the dev team is aware that currently there aren\'t enough spawns to make players happy. This will change, worry not. There have been some really interesting discussions about spawns in the past, search around in the Wishlist if you are interested on reading up on some :)

what levels are the creatures in this arena? Is it only high level things?
-
For the most part, the arena has some of the strongest enemies in the game. (with the exception of the ruins)
-
so is there any place witha alot of low-level enemies?
-
Not really clustered, I think. There are rats in the sewers of Hydlaa and warehouse of Akkaio, and clackers in some areas of the Arena and within the Laanx dungeon. However, there are almost always high-level creatures around them, dungeon in particular, so care must be taken.
-
ok thanks.
I guess now im off to hunt the rats.
<:3 )~
-
a low lvl arena would be nice, so there are 2 of them, mabe you need a requirment 2 get into the high lvl one, something like that would work well
-
Arenas are generally meant to be \"high level,\" since those who seek them are out to prove something. That is why tournaments are held in Arenas. If someone isn\'t capable of surviving, they don\'t belong there until they improve their skills :) For any weaker animals, hunt outside.
-
But the arena of low-level enemies would be a place to improve their skill for that reason, instead of having to hunt down rats that are very scarce. Plus to be able to attack one rat (or just a low-level enemy) after the other would be fun and very beneficial to your stats.

And yet utterly mindless and wrong for PlaneShift ;) The argument of \"beneficial to stats\" is definitely not the best to use, because the aim is to create a realistic roleplaying game where things make sense. When you are a beginning fighter, you hunt through the lands for animals to improve your skills upon. Once you are proficient, you wander over to the Arena and prove yourself worthy of being there. What you are suggesting seems more like an excuse to have low-strength animals grouped in one place for no reason besides training - and this can already be found in the sewers, for example.
-
In the sewers there are hardly any rats in comparison the vast space down there.
-
And the solution is to make an Arena? ;) No, it\'s to add more spawns, which is indeed going to happen. Besides, the sewers are definitely not your only option.

I was recently in Ojaveda with a new char doing the rat quest. Go there, the rats are spawning like mad!

That\'s pretty useless advice, mostly because someone already made the same suggestion a few posts up.
Also, if this person is new and anon-enki, chances are he or she doesn\'t know how to get to the city in Akkaio. You are correct however in suggesting that it\'s the best place to hunt rats.
But with the game the way it is, there\'s no good reason to hunt rats.
You should be able to go straight to clackers if your character was set up to be a fighter. People in the plaza tend to give away moderately powerful swords to new players, and clackers are both more profitable and more densely situated than rats.
It\'s good that you\'re trying to help others though. Keep up the effort!
-
What are clackers? Where can i find them? What plaza are you talking about that gives away swords? I have not seen that anywhere.
-
I don\'t see too many people giving out swords, though I sometimes happen to, wherever I am. Zanzibar means the Hydlaa Plaza, where the giant Laanx statue is - there is almost always a group of characters by Harnquist, the resident blacksmith and merchant.
Clackers are insectoid beetle-like things, found in the Arena, Laanx dungeon, and I think in the green hills as well. They are tougher than rats, but better to train on, if you can take them on.
-
How much stronger are they? How many more exp. points do they give you? I know rats only give you 30.
-
Such things are better to have seen for yourself, in-game ;) If you have a sword and can fight a couple of rats one after another, without needing to stop to regain your health, you should be able to take on the clacks.
-
ok. Thanks. Just making sure I didn\'t start an attack thinking it was the strength of a rat and end up with a rogue. ;-) thanks.
