I tried to do the new updater and I followed everything and it still won\'t work!!!

Can you provide details? System specs, the exact steps you followed, etc. Make sure that you\'re following the Guide to the letter. Have you tried the Java Updater? Do you have administrator privileges? etc.

I did steps 1,1a,2,2a... didn\'t work so I did 2b... didn\'t work and now it won\'t  update for sure.

You are an administrator if you are the only user of the computer or if the administrator (first user or another user who was granted administrator privileges) gives you the privileges. System specs can be found in Apple Menu -> About this Mac -> More Info... For starters, what OS do you have (10.4.x, 10.3.x, etc)?
