AMD XP 2200+
256 MB RAM
a dvd rom
Nvidia geforce 5200 (or so) FX.
But I have jet to find something that doesnt run on it. And I wont give him away to soon. *huggles the old dustbin* :D

That\'s actually not a bad machine, Cyl, except for the small matter of the Ram :\\
You know what they said, \"God will provide the RAM\"... well it ain\'t true.
josePhoenix
-
Cyl, I\'ve got the same setup except an athlon 2400+ XP and 512mb of memory...soon to add another 512mb. Oh ya, and about 350 GB of hard drive (3 of em).
The graphics card does lack in some areas but it gets me by. I don\'t know how you can run Planeshift with 256mb of memory though. All but 60mb of memory is used on my system (Slackware Linux 10.1) when I run planeshift. Though the system does double as a webserver and I usually have a few firefox windows plus gaim running while I play.
-
I\'m proud of mine, not for tha rather lwo specs, but for that fact that it is mine, it runs well under my guidance, and iis faster in actions (not cpu, etc...) than most of my friends pc\'s, several which have 3x the power mine does. It\'s the linux :P
p3 733
768mb ram
gf fx 5200 128
nice old crt (me <3\'s my viewsonic g773)
soundblaster 16 live
40+20gb hdd
I use archlinux btw.
Working on this:
amd 2400+ (jsut cause I have it) 2.0ghx oc\'d to 2.3
2gb ram
160gb hdd
gf 6600 or 6800 128

Show off your pc?
Do it!
-
amd xp 2500+ \"barton\"
Abit an7
2x512+256 mb ram (2700,2700,2100)...(i know.. sucky config.. but it works and i never run low on ram)
20gb maxtor + 40gb seagate (hmm 24 kb of free space is kinda sucky..)
gigabyte 9600p
19\' 96p samatron monitor
together it costed me about 550$ two years ago. i still think it\'s ok considering that i still have access to all the features i need both graphically and instructionset wise

Well I\'m proud of mine for its ability to keep pace for enough years that it didn\'t seem like a wasteful purchase - that and it was surprisingly expandible.
Initial Specs at purchase time:
P4 1.8ghz Northwoods Core
128 MB Rambus
20 GB EIDE Drive
24X CDROM
32 MB GeForce2 MX 400
AC97 Soundcard
56k Crap WinModem
15\" FlatPanel
Optical Mouse
Windows XP Home
Current Specs
P4 2.66 ghz (I have a 3 ghz processor I havn\'t put in as enabling hyperthreading is going to require a bios flash)
2.5 gb Rambus
A 40gb Seagate drive and a 160 GB IBM DeskStar
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200Ultra 128 MB
No Modem whatsoever
SB Live! with Dolby 5.1
52X CDBurner (LITEON)
Cheap DVD reader (at least it has DMA :D )
21\" NEC CRT
Optical Marble Trackball Mouse
Ubuntu 5.10 Linux
OpenSuSE 10 Linux
Nowadays its much more fun to play with, but sadly its nearing the end of its \"Awsomeness\" Era. Next on the list will be an AMD system with PCI Express.
-
My computers are not worth listing here, as the best I have is an AMD 2GHz machine. (who can beat Xordan anyway?)
But... what do you people name your computers?
Mine are Woogie, Venus, Pingu and Reactor
-
I call my stationary \"Hal\" and my laptop for \"LARS!\"
-
Hehe. I hope you guys know I posted those comp specs purely in jest. I dont believe anyone would spend that money. It was supposed to be a blatently exagerated sarcastic remark.
anyways, my real spec.
I just got this rig for x-mas
amd 3500+ processor
1g ram
nvidia geforce 7800 gt
all liquid cool
Im planning on upgrade of ram to 2g soon. but at the moment. nothing I play reqiures it
-
lol, same as WiseKran :) I just copied those specs from a $32,000 sun server and added the graphics card.
My real specs:
Athlon64 3200+ (OC\'d to from 2.0 ghz to 2.2ghz)
2GB PC3200 ram
Geforce 6800 (Modded to a 6800 Ultra)
SB Audigy 2 ZS
Thermaltake Shark case + all water cooled and other heatsink cooling everywhere with glowing lights and such.
I\'m proud of it because I\'ve saved a few $100 by modding/overclocking, and it runs the latest games out there on max quality settings without a hitch. I\'ll probably keep this rig for a few years and then buy a new rig from scratch. No point in upgrading parts like gfx card 7800\'s and such because nothing out there atm can really use all it\'s power for a noticable difference in performance, and by the time something can then the 7800\'s with be out of date feature wise. :)
Oh, and also because it glows, is really quiet and looks cool and such.

I\'m really proud of my toaster. Its cooks just the way I like it, where the surface of the toast is nice and crispy without being burnt, and all the seeds and stuff in it start to pop open from the heat.. Mmmmm..
It has a -
2 slice capacity, each with a dual side heating element
Analog toastiness control that I\'ve tweaked to go to 11 ( factory default was a mere and puny 10, I myself recommend a mild and conservative option like about 3 for the best toasting qualities )
1m 240v power cable with cold cathode lighting
No cooling required! No fans, no peltiers, no mineral oil cooling at all, it runs quiet as a mouse except for the delicious toasty noises of cooking bread, yeah!
Extra large retractable and spring-loaded crumb tray.
But most of all, I like the way when you shake it, it rattles and crumbs fall out of every seam and sometimes you even get bits of sultana falling out that have been long since blackened due to a large number of toasting cycles, but nonetheless are still very recognisable.
Oh yeah, I\'m totally going to add a flash drive with a USB2 interface and a hardware-based mp3 decoder any day now, I dream of toasting to the delicate notes of a mello piano concerto, or maybe some seething death metal for doing crumpets.
I havent named it yet, or see the need to. My relationship with my toaster transcends mere labels, we communicate empathetically on a more enlightened plane.

zomg, I\'m jealous!!! Have you installed NetBSD on it yet??! Then you can make the mp3 player work even better and have more fun stuff like a gui. \\o/

amd 64, 512MB ram, radeon 9200, installed on a badger based system (http://www.badgers.org.uk/images/home-primrose.jpg)

a bader based system, hehe:

:P
I have called my pc many things, atm it\'s either precious crap or my precious :D
-
I am not pround of my computer. I am ashamed of it. It still runs WinXP and that makes me want to throw it out the window... It works for what I need about 50 to 75% of the time. Otherwise it just acts like any other windows based OS and pretends to work.
-
AMD64 3200+ (socket 732 or whatever is the old AMD64 socket)
ABIT KV8 (not the MAX3)
1GB Ram
2 x 160 GB HD
DVD
DVD+/-RW (Liteon)
Samsung 21.3\" LCD ( 214T ) <- this is the pricey thing ;)
No surprise PS work like a charm! :)

Haha, thats a great link. A nice striped-down minimalist OS like NetBSD would indeed work well on a toaster, though its specs are pretty mighty for a toaster - 200MHz ARM cpu, 32 MB ram, 10/100 ethernet, USB ports, flash memory etc. Plug your ADSL in and you too can have a firewall that filters spam and cooks you breakfast all at the same time!
-
That toaster gives me ideas :D You could take a quad slice toaster, a 5in touch screen lcd, a gumstix or similar network appliance thing, install linux/bsd, add heat shielding, network, and speakers, and you have ultimate toast! You\'d have to take out one of the toasting slots, for room for the heat shielding and the gumstix.

Tower:
AMD XP @ 1.6Ghz
768mb RAM @ 200mhz
80GB HD : 7200rpm : ATA133
5.6GB HD : 7200rpm : ATA???
4.3GB HD : 7200rpm : ATA???
Nvidia 5200FX 256MB
Kubuntu Linux 5.1
Dying CD Drive
Peripherals:
17\" CRT, and a good one at that.
5 button usb optical mouse, wherein 3 buttons would have been more appropriate.
Building: (with one of the MSI M-Boxes)
AMD Athlon64 @ 2.0 Ghz
1 Gb RAM @ 400mhz
80GB HD : 7200 rpm : SATA1.5
NEC CD/DVD burner (All formats, afaik.)
Reusing:
80GB HD : 7200rpm : ATA133
Nvidia 5200FX 256MB
Dynex (off-brand) 5.1 Soundcard
Kubuntu Linux (x64)
If you compensate for the GFX & Audio Cards, my entire new tower comes in just shy of $500 on NewEgg. Unfortunately it the components are being ordered in batches, so I have a CPU, a HD, a keyboard, and a 512 stick of RAM (in my current) just leisurely awaiting the rest of the box...

I just realized that if I can make $20 a week I can buy a new iam 20in on a payment plan! WIth a wacom graphire4 4x5! Sucks that it\'s winter, so no snow to shovel (I\'m in Seattle area) and no leaves to rake, and no grass to cut :/ Anyways though, when I can meet those rather low requirements, intelmac! whooo!
It\'s like pretty+linux+mainstream apps, what could beat it? Plus it\'s very fast now!
