Title: tea!
Post by: JellyWerker on January 08, 2006, 04:42:06 am
While I\'m on the topic of making topics, how about tea? Are there any big tea drinkers or tea fans here? I myself am more of a fan, I don\'t drink too much (although I drink more than I used too) but am interested in it greatly. My favorite type is green tea, preferably a weakish flowery tea. Matcha (Japanese powdered green tea) is also good, a bit creamy for my taste.

So what are your opinions on tea?

Generally I can\'t wake up or fall asleep without drinking tea :) Considering that these are also the only times I drink, ever, it\'s pretty vital. Earl Grey tea is the usual, though I love peach tea and raspberry tea and all sorts of yummy flavors :3

I can\'t stand iced tea. For some reason it feels like I\'m drinking soap.

aww i love tea aye.

im gonna have one right now.

i like black tea(i think its called that) the most and i also love lipton iced tea  (not the green stuff).

when we went to hong kong they sold ice tea in maccas or mcdonalds (how ever you wanna call it).  they dont do that here :(

Ingredients:
2 heaping tbsp. orange pekoe or black whole-leaf tea
  8 c. high-quality water
  1 c. sugar
lemon slices or mint sprigs for garnish (optional)

  Steps:
1.   Place the sugar and half the water in a 2-quart serving jug and stir to dissolve the sugar, then chill.

2.   Bring the remaining water to boil in a nonreactive pot.

3.   Remove the water from the heat as soon as it boils and add the tea.

4.   Cover and steep for 5 to 8 minutes.

5.   Strain the hot tea into the sugared water.

6.   Add lemon slices or mint sprigs if desired, or place them in serving glasses as a garnish.

7.   Fill serving glasses with ice and pour the tea in them to serve.

davo: speaking of teas sold at food places, indian chai tea is yummy!

Karyuu: I dislike iced black tea, but I\'ll drink cold green tea.

Zanzibar: tea is calming :) (we need to have a little contentment smiley :D)

Tea is good...the things people will talk about to make a topic.

Anyways, I tried green tea, supposed to be amazing but, I couldn\'t stand it.

I drink tea at night and coffee in the morning, tea I find is more calming whereas coffee is great at waking you up.

I am completely hooked on caffeine though...so maybe, I should calm down a bit, eh?

I actually get really drowsy when I drink coffee, unless I drink a lot of it.  Then I just get nervous and jittery.

ive been awake for 24hours now.....coffee and tea are keeping me alive. not much coffee left. going to die. arrgghh.

i find coffee has just about the opposite affects of being tranqelised, apart from the feeling that you have actually been tranqalised. erratic heart rate is a common sympton of coffee.

why is it opposite of a tranq.. oh yea. feeling like you want to sleep but cant, as opposed to feeling like you want to wake up but cant

still going to die

I like...liquorice tea...

Oh and ever since I\'ve been to Bangladesh I\'m hooked to Bengali tea too. Don\'t understand why, they pour loads of milk and sugar into it, but hey, I got a whole sack of bengali tea powder as a present so...It doesn\'t taste that well without milk and sugar, the tea itself is kinda bad..
But liquorice is still the best.

Tea is cheap => Tea is good (employment would be better...).

I prefer herbal \"teas\" (peppermint, mixed herbs) and green tea - there is even pink or white...

The best ready ice tea available in Germany is \"Touareg\" (blue-green / black cover on the package), the remarkable amount of mint cools you twice in a hot summer.

I really hate \"Peach flavoured ice tea\", it is the probably most artifically tasting drink I know.

I tasted this earl grey once....

I just don\'t see whats so good about these tea and coffee drinks. Tea tastes like wood or paper or nothing. Coffee is just horrible if you want to stay awake just don\'t go to sleep. >.>

I\'m in the same boat as Drey.  Tea and coffee = teh nasty.  but this drink beats them all:  http://www.bawls.com/

yeah, try to go sleep after drinking a few of those.  Oh Drey, you\'d like it, its best when nearly frozen.

Never liked it as a child, so I don\'t ever drink it. :) I quite liked various flavoured tea\'s, but generally I stick to water, milk, apple/orange juice.... and that\'s it. :) I generally stay away from caffeine stuff anyway... don\'t need it ever, and I know I\'ll start to need it if I drink it on a regular basis.

I\'m not really a big caffeine fan.... I don\'t avoid it but don\'t go out of my way to get it.

One of the best drinks is fresh orange juice, like when its sour enough to make you pull a funny face.

Waylander: Yes, I do think of many odd things for making topics, but hey, this is the forum for that :D

tbvp: bawls is good, \'nuff said :D

I find most bagged teas unattractive, I prefer mine loose leafed, I even go as far as to rip open the bags when I steep it :D

When I\'m 21, my main drinks will be bawls, gatorade, water, tea, and absinthe :D

We can get absinthe here in Canada (at 19 or 18 depending on the province), but sadly it isn\'t the real thing.

Isn\'t the full thing...I heard it just missed a couple ingredients, a drug of some type.

Anyways, Vodka beats everything I have tried so far...
Though I find beer to be more relaxing...
Then again, Irish Cream is also amazing to relax somebody...

Either way, alcohol beats any drink any day :D

Meh.... I like drinking vodka straight, which usually surprises whoever I\'m with.  It really is horrid stuff though.  I\'m part Russian so maybe that\'s the reason I like it anyway.

Post by: Waylander on January 09, 2006, 05:52:03 am
Is there any other way to drink it...

The only time I mix vodka is for kamikazes and that is when it is already mixed before I get to the vodka :D

It\'s good in coffee though.

Well, I treat vodka as a delivery system for alcohol, regardless of its taste or familiarity.  When I want something that tastes good, there\'s tea.:)

I dislike most alcohol in general, mostly since the american way of drinking seems to be buy as much as you can of the cheapest stuff and get drunk, puke, and call it a great weekend... :/ I dislike that mindset, and believe it is the main reason the drinking age is 21 over here. The thing that acttracts me to absinthe is that it has both stimulants and relaxants, causing you to feel the effect of the alcohol, but still have a prettymuch clear mind, I take that to mean that your hand is still shaking, but you realise it is, and can watch it shaking or something, anyways, it\'s supposedly a traditional artists drink becasue of that.

I think it would be great if teens here in america realised drinking isn\'t about getting drunk, especially when they are like 16 and don\'t have any real problems to drown. I consider drinking to be more of about appreciating the alcohol, the flavor, etc... drunkeness is a side product of appreciating too much in too short a time, it should not be the point of your drinks, nor do I think it should be strived for. Many people do think getting drunk is quite odd when you put it in terms along the lines of \"getting yourself stupid on purpose.\" I am very anti-stupidity, so that is a big thing for me.

More to come later? And this topic is about tea...
