Now i dont like to complain. This is a great game. One of the best i have ever played.
Yet... i would love it if the fire blade was on fire. Or the ice broadsword was made of ice.
Every special thing should look special. That would be asome.
Does anyone know what strength you need for a broadsword of whirlwind?

That\'s nice to hear, and nice to know you\'re enjoying the game. However, there\'s a bit of a thing about the special weapons.
It would be nice to have such special effects, but the first thing you must know is that the items are not set, it\'s a prefix/suffix add-on which modifies certain attributes of the weapons.
I understand that it is possible to set certain appearances to show certain effects, but the main problem would be implementing said effect for each and every weapon model, programming it and maybe combining two or more effects for a certain weapon.
Most important, the weapons will not be kept, as there is a wipe planned \'Soon\' (tm)
Definately more than one, I\'d suspect, so don\'t get too attached to the nice numbers you have ^^

Planeshift is at version 0.3 and is in Alpha development. Everyone who wants to try this game should know this - you\'re becoming a tester, not a player of a fully-developed commercial game produced by a million-dollar company ;)

Adding effects to weapons is something we would like to do. We have a fairly extensive effects system at the moment so we need to apply it to various things.

There is a wide range of adjectives, and each provides special effects to the weapon, making it unique. There are currently around 5500 unique weapons collected by players, thanks also to the fact that we have little control on the power of spawned weapons.
Making 5500 different skins for the weapons will take quite some time :rolleyes:

lol well anyways i didnt say the game wasnt fun and i do enjoy the once in a while wipes helps even everyone out but just fighting in game isnt that fun and its very hard to find RPers that are not very high levels and i dont really have the skill of writing very good
oh on a side note thats really cool that its planned to be put in maybe see the sword damage effect models skins would be nice to see :)

Not really. You make the various different modifiers, and mix the effects together using overlays and what-have-you. Yes, it\'s a bit of work, but it can/will be done in some form, eventually.

what frank said about the skins taking damage would be good and a bit of blood flyin here and there look good. maybe 3 stages of damge so not to have to do too much just some cuts and bruises lost limbs lol.
(and it begins to rain yes i dont have to mow the 2 and a half acre block of land today)

Hmm, personally I dislike the idea of having every magical item surrounded by some kind of blinky blinky effect. Different textures would do fine, in my opinion. Special items are a different story, and they should also look as unique as they are.
Just my thoughts. :)
