I guess you can try compiling it following one of the linux compiling guides here: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/planeshift/planeshift/docs/

It should theoretically work.

Ill try but ill paste the message:

PCBSD# sh PlaneShift_CBV0.3.011.linux.x86-2.run
Creating directory ps.cb.03.011.linux.x86-2
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing Planeshift Crystal Blue Version 3.011 relase 2..
eval: ./setup.sh: not found
PCBSD#

I found some ppl fixed it installing a Dialog Program, but thats not my problem I guess.I have one installed.Perhaps someone could have any ideas? or someone tried something under FBSD?Or...Is Planeshift going to be ported to FreeBSD? ;P

Installation under FreeBSD should be no different than a source compile install under any other *nix, assuming it has the prerequisites like OpenGL support, working builds of curl, jam, etc.

Rather than messing around with linux binaries ( which FreeBSD can run under emulation ), go for a FreeBSD native build by following the various guides on compiling from source.

http://laanx.fragnetics.com/index.php?page=linux

http://laanx.fragnetics.com/index.php?page=build_gentoo

The above should get you started hopefully.. I\'d also advise on using gcc 3.4.x if possible to compile, 3.3.x is known to have some issues, and 4.0.x is still being polished up to a decent release quality.

The hardest part will probably get CrystalSpace working, due to it being a larger more complex bit of code with lots of dependancies and optional features, if you can get over that hurdle building the rest should be easy. Stick with the CVS dates suggested in the build guides unless you really like debugging bleeding edge code :)

One of these days I\'m going to try getting planeshift working under linux/sparc64 as well as solaris/sparc64, I vaguely recall that others have been able to build it under FreeBSD/x86 in the past without any major issues.

Well, i have tried to build ps as gentoo howto says and i get this building cal3d

PCBSD# ./autogen.sh
libtool: not found
You need libtool >= 1.4 installed to compile cal3d.
autoconf: not found
autoconf-2.53: not found
autoconf-2.54: not found
autoconf-2.55: not found
autoconf-2.56: not found
autoconf-2.57: not found
autoconf-2.58: not found
autoconf-2.59: not found
You need autoconf >= 2.53 installed to compile cal3d.
automake: not found
automake-1.7: not found
automake-1.8: not found
automake-1.9: not found
You need automake >= 1.7 installed to compile cal3d.
aclocal: not found
aclocal-1.7: not found
aclocal-1.8: not found
aclocal-1.9: not found
You need aclocal >= 1.7 installed to compile cal3d.

I have all those ports. I did a make deinstall / reinstall and still gives me that error. Perhaps I should use linux emulation and wine...
Any ideas please?

PD: If someone get success with PS and FreeBSD,please...tell me how or make a howto, would be so nice.

Title: FreeBSD port pending
Post by: _BERBE_ on April 03, 2006, 04:41:44 pm
Hi. I have been talking with a friend of mine that had ported PlaneShift to FreeBSD. Its pending to be accepted. Once its accepted ill build the PBI for PC-BSD and if PS admins want it to add it to Downloads, it could be great:
