Hi
I just installed PlaneShift on my Ubuntu box:
Athlon XP 2800
Geforce 5200
Ubuntu 5.10
Everything worked fine until I tried to use the updater. I get this error message on every mirror I try:
Warning: New updater can\'t be fetched since youre OS isn\'t yet supported for automatic updating......something about fetching all manually
So what can I do? I searched a long time on the board but all that I found was for MacOS :/
My other problem is that the server never respondes if I use the check game server button. And in the client I always get a 100% failed message beside the server.
I am not behind a router or firewall.
I hope somebody can help me

Hey Mol.
Nice to see you here ;)
Make sure you have UDP Port 7777 opened at your firewall/router/proxy/whatever and run the updater in text-mode (# updater --auto)
To check the status of Laanx visit:

Which installer did You use (name of the installation file) ? Or have You compiled everything from sources ? Everything worked fine...
erm... \"everything\" means what ? Were You able to play ?...until I tried to use the updater. I get this error message on every mirror I try:

It is only warning message, nothing you should worry about.

Wait until updater finishes it\'s work or prints error message :) And, as it is was mentioned in previous reply, use text mode updater, it works better.

You SHOULD update the client before trying to play. Check the file data/servers.xml, port number of Laanx server shoud be set to 7777, previously it was 7354.
I hope somebody can help me
We will try to give You best help we can, just provide enough amount of data to process ;)

I found my old problem. I used the old installer from the page and my updater gave me an error because of old version.
Now I downloaded the new version installer from the board (also the new bz2 archive) and installed everything.
The updater worked and I now have updated everything. But I can\'t start the client anymore :P
./psclient.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libcal3d.so.11: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
This is the error I get when starting the client. Wouldn\'t be a big problem but I can\'t find version 11 of cal3d.
On the official site they only have versions 9 and 10 :(
I tried renaming my v10 lib but it didn\'t work.
Hope this is enough inof ;)

Start \"psclient\", and not \"psclient.bin\" directly. Script \"psclient\" sets LD_LIBRARY_PATH correctly before calling \"psclient.bin\". Check it - in subdirectory \"lib\" You should find the library which is \"missing\". Name of the library file (...so.11) is not related to the version of the library (well, at least I have no clue, what are the rules of naming library files, maybe it is related to compatibilty with previous/next versions...). PS uses cal3d v. 0.10
