Why do you not at leats give a weeks notics on the web site of when there will be updates.
This will noteic people that the sever will go down sometime that week.
Another thing is can you pleas post the tpys of updates that have been. Like you did in Oct.

Whenver there is a big update there will probably be a post of the changes... The last down time was due to server fixes so things that are not too interesting...

You are freely playing a game in early development - the development team has no responsibility nor need to notify you of every single change that will occur, however many days in advance. This will slow down development even more, something I am sure no one wants. If there are large updates, you will see the main news updated as Drey said. In smaller updates that happen on weekends there aren\'t too many obvious additions (mostly code and mostly server-side). You can always check the CVS (http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/*checkout*/planeshift/planeshift/docs/history.txt) to see what\'s been happening with the code (both implemented and that which isn\'t yet).

I agree that they should at least post a little note on laanx.fragnetics.com as they used to do, but beyond that, it doesn\'t matter. The notes simply keep the community up to date and might (though probably won\'t :( ), stem the flood of, \"Y CANT I CONECT TO SEVER?????!??!??\" posts.

When in any alpha state, development teams work on balancing games, testing code, and keeping everything working smoothly. I have rarely heard of Open Beta testing let alone open Alpha.
As well I am fairly certain that the Dev team all do this in their free time. It is a hobby, and for guys like me who like to write it is a hobby as well.
Think of this game as a graphical MUD/MUSH. The biggest differenced that I currently see is:
1. Graphics
2. Click and kill/train/[insert other action here]
I thank the Dev team for all thier work and I hope that some day I can become a valued member of one of the teams that help make this thing grow, aside from a player that so many love :P
