what is it?
-
A tree with an upside down skull buried between its roots? Something like that?
*does not know*
-
And, more importantly, how is it related to Planeshift? (this should be good :D ).
-
Planeshift....has....trees
oh oh and dead people!

More importantly? You mean that\'s the most important thing to you? That\'s juvenile and shallow.
Further, I like your \"guilty until proven innocent\" stance. Very enlightened. So enlightened that it\'s both vindictive and petty. You want to know how it\'s related? Invent a reason. Interpret it in such a way that it makes sense to you.
More importantly... more importantly.... nevermind content or message, nevermind the fact that you\'re dealing with human beings.

Oh, I thought it was supposed to be some sort of monster.... Oh well...

That seems like an equally valid interpretation. Don\'t be fooled by Cha0s! Interpret all things the way you consider to be natural! In all things, don\'t like people like him change the experience for you.

Now don\'t be getting all pissy.... This is why people are always getting mad at you and stuff... or used to get mad at you all the time, don\'t truly know if they still do anymore... And I find Cha0s to be quite a nice person.... Now, back to the ART and not a discussion of people... Looks like it could be a monster because it sort of reminds me of a shambler from an MMORPG I played before called Ashen Empires. The shambler was tree like and slow moving and was pretty strong, though slow moving. It was excellent target for people training their bow and other archery skills up.

Hee hee, \"stuff\". How articulate. I think you just pwned me with your background knowledge. (Holy heck, people used to get mad at me! I can\'t have that!)

Zanzibar, maybe you need to turn off your computer for a bit and take a breath?

Hey! There\'s no need to get personal here.
-
I happen to like the art you posted and I am curious about it. Mostly I like the bright color and they way it meshes together. Imo it has a swamp look to it that is accented by the dead tree and I thought that the skull face was an accent to ripples in a possible body of water. It is a very interesting piece of work but I am unsure of what emotion it gives :|
As for how its planeshift related no clue and does it matter Imo no. I have seen many pictures, sketches and pieces of artwork that are not planeshift related in this section :/
-
not too much art here but still... i like the things from a while back with the lines o/
-
What is and isn\'t art is completely subjective. I don\'t even care to discuss it though, I just made it in two minutes out of boredom and posted it for what has been so cruelly outted as \'no good reason\'.
Just like Chaos questioned whether or not it was relevant for no good reason, given that off topic \"art\" gets posted here constantly, but I\'m sure there was a reason. So let\'s have it!
-
Just to clarify: Off-topic art is acceptable as long as it does not take up the majority of a thread. If all that is posted is one picture and it\'s not PlaneShift-related (not discussing your image in particular), threads get moved.

I found it quite inspirating. Here\'s what I saw in it:
(Original by zanzibar)
The night was bright, but something wasn\'t right.
Nobody knew there was a fight here, just last fortnight.
An ylian died and fell to this very lake,
sank to the bottom for handful\' trias sake.

Cherppow: i think i love all your posts

Wow that really is very nice ^^
What you saw makes me think halloween :D
good job Cherppow

cherppow makes everything better :>
-
I didn\'t really like the pic since it didn\'t provoke my imagination at all. The skull was super obvious and kind of set the theme, but since the rest was not so obvious I never get a full picture. Maybe it was the effect that killed it a little, I dunno. :/
Cherppow, your take was great and if that curvy line is the shape of a moon, I guess you gave an answer to Cha0s\' question. It can be interpreted as non-PS related :D
And Zanzibar, cut the bullcrap...
Somebody asking if it\'s PS related won\'t stop anybody from seeing something in your pic.

Zanzibar, until i saw Cherrpow\'s development, all I saw was a buch of blue/green splotches with some squiggly lines. Now (Thank you, Cherppow) I see...
-
well they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder....the same generally is true about art. Very nice minamalist thing the sort of things you you have to view and interpreate and not rush to work out what it is...like clouds
and Cherppow thats a cool interpretation :)
-
Ooooh! So I get to bullcrap a creative theory to the meaning behind this somewhat random peice of art? Hmm. Ok. I can do that. Here goes:
I see winds. A tree, and of course a skull upside down in the ground. Instead of doing something completely wacky and obtuse, I\'ll take it at face value and still create something deemed worthy of poetry.
Through life, family trees spread their capacious branches. Winds of change stream under these branches, causing some to fall, whither and die, while supporting others. Eventually these winds deface the tree of it\'s original beauty, creating a monstrous deformity completely starved of life. Robust roots keep the tree upright, however beneath the deposit of soil, compost and root lies the ugly stench of death. The death of an original idea. The end of an ideal.
Somehow I interpreted this, and I don\'t have any family issues. Odd. :P
EDIT: \'Doh, my interpretation is somewhat similar to Cherppow\'s. Mine\'s more about family lineage falling short of an original ancestor\'s wishes, and his is about a greedy ylian dying, but the fact we both see trees and a skull is odd.

I love it! :-D And yes, it was my intention for it to be the reflection near a lake of a dead tree and the moon. Maybe I should drop out of school and dedicate my life to making colouring books.
As far as Father Sengus and defender43 go Imagination is key I guess. Or perhaps simply an open mind. That said, it was never intended to be inspiring, or even good.
To seperot: It\'s good to see you react positively to something.
To Kixie: A \"bullsh*t creative theory\"? No. If you cannot appreciate relativism and the subjectiveness of every day life, and especially that of art, then I feel sorry that you\'re endowed with such a closed mind.

Zanzibars art here seems to me to be deeper than what it appears on the surface. I believe it to be a massive study of the attitudes of people here on the PS forums, thus making it PS related. I notice how he seems to take the posts questioning the art and intentionally take something negative from them, once again employing powers of observation to push the some of the more obvious buttons that people have.
I detect a few hints of sarcasm in some of his initial posts, as if he is vaguely ammused by the reactions. Something tells me the image isn\'t all the art.... this thread is his canvas and he is spilling the paint and watching it run.
AWSOME!

Did you even read the rest of my post? ?(

You\'re gross. :|
-
as if that wasn\'t your intention....
-
Ah, you are right, I was forgetting my manners. Apologies. Maybe I can contribute something else... here:
An old painting was recently fished up from a river near Hydlaa. The colours were all smudgy, and the scholars are still debating what it pictures, but it\'s said to be of quite old origin.
Question remains the same, what do you see? :)
-
Looks like fruit stacked up on a plate inside a large carnivorous plant\'s mouth with a forest in the background. Whipped cream is on top of one of the fruits.
-
Top of the big tower >.>
or maybe the temple tower
-
I actually see a camp fire surrounded by various trees and rocks, a perfect little camp in the woods.
..But, after reading Drey\'s post, I also see where he\'s coming from x.o

Well Cherppow, I really had the same impression the first time I saw it, but then I read Dylia\'s comment and I saw the other thing too :D
And about your painting, I see Hydlaa on fire :\\
:D

On darkest night, in deepest woods
Two witches waited, beneath high hoods.
One in white, one in grey
Both they waited, along the frae.
The maiden, she came, an unwary rose.
Dark of hair, blush of clothes.
Waited did she, by lilyed pond cold.
A note she opened, uncreasing fold
Her love, he spoke, in words a-dear
To hold no doubts, nor have no fear.
Little she knew, was false the note,
A trap to lay, to follow by rote.
The witches waited, grins a-wide
They knew she had no-where to hide.
The pond it bubbled, the water red
The maid she cried, from fear and dread.
The witches came forth, the maid did weep.
A laugh it came, from the deep.
A moment it took, the power released.
Gone was sound, for sound had ceased.
Gone were witches, gone was maid.
Gone was life, among the glade.

Hi there
Very unique visions everyone. :) Of course there\'s no one correct answer in this, just different opinions. Here\'s what I saw:
