Low budget search thing? Unfortunately I have no clue what you may be referring to within the BitTorrent client :/ When you click on the PlaneShift_CBV0.3.012.exe.torrent file and it opens in the BitTorrent client, does it begin to download? Can you possibly post a screenshot of what you are seeing?

And if this is too complicated, remember that you don\'t have to use the torrent file. Scrolling a bit further down and using the mirrors is perfectly acceptable as well, and a lot simpler.

Thank you very much for responding, i must look like a total idiot

It doesnt start downloading no, it just sits there and says 0KB/s , and that it has made no proggress, frankly i don\'t even know how to start it. but i took your advise and used a mirror, its down loading now.

Thank you very much, kind stranger.

Hey i downloaded that bittorrent thing (and yea it does look low budget). But the game didn\'t load.

I then downloaded a mirror and i downloaded fine and bittorrent recognised it and got to 100% but where do i go now?

Step by step, please.

1 You downloaded the .torrent file from the PS main site?
2 You opened it with Bittorrent and it downoaded to 100%?
3 You opened the file from your default download folder?

Downloading BitTorrent is not downloading the game. You will have to download the game client through BitTorrent - consider it a downloading application, in simple terms :)

If you clicked on the \"2) Click here to get PlaneShift Crystal Blue 0.3.013 (http://laanx.fragnetics.com/bt/PlaneShift_CBV0.3.013.exe.torrent)\" link, it will fire up your BitTorrent client and begin downloading the actual game. This will take a long time - around an hour at least, I guarantee it. Make sure that the file you are downloading is indeed called \"PlaneShift_CBV0.3.013.exe\". Once it finishes and the server will come back, you\'ll be able to log in and go in-game.

At this point BitTorrent is the only way available to download the new release.  After a bit, we\'ll have it up on the download servers, too.  (and then update servers, as well)

Does bittorrent require an outside connection to connect to the computer I am on to work?  If so, the there is no way for me to use it (network blocks all incoming connections not on the http port).  If not, why is bittorrent going impossibly slow (5 day download time)?

The network I\'m on runs at cable/DSL-ish speeds when it\'s busy, and I am running windows XP.

If you\'ve some sort of firewall or router in place, it does need to have some ports open - otherwise speeds may suffer.

But open in what way?

I can connect to a server, but if the server needs to connect to me it\'s not gunna work.  Incoming traffic is blocked, but as long as I establish the connection I can do prety much what I want.

Check this (http://www.bittorrent.com/FAQ.html#firewall) section of the bittorrent FAQ.

Yeah....not working.

Is there not any way to get a working, if dated, copy from one of the web servers?  I could update to 0.3.013 when it becomes available to me...

Unfortunately 0.3.012 has been taken down from the mirrors to make way for the newer version. I think there are places you can find it on, though... Hm. All of my searches are turning up torrents. Ah, found this (http://superdownloads.uol.com.br/download/i20428.html), which seems to be what it says.

That\'s the one I already got my hands on.  It hasn\'t been working when I have tried it.  Just opens an application window and shuts it, without doing anything, when I try to run it.

*edit*

When I try to actually run the .exe file froma DOS prompt, I get a \"Program is too big to fit in memory.\" error....

Please avoid posting two or more successive posts before others have replied. Just edit your last post to add new information :) Thanks! --Karyuu

Well, my searches aren\'t turning up anything useful, sorry :\\ Looks like you\'ll have to wait for the mirrors - luckily it won\'t take much more time.

*edit*

Er, hm. You do meet the minimum requirements, yes? Nothing intensive running in the background, also?

I\'m a bit short on RAM, but it\'s DDR2, and my page file is plenty big enough, so I didn\'t figure that was a problem.

Seems more like a bunch of hullabaloo in how XP handles the DOS virtual machine.

*edit*

Can\'t figure out how to fix it.  If it would use the virtual memory, I\'d be all set.  I can\'t seem to figure out how to get it to do so however....
Title: This game

wow, it only took 3.5 hrs to download new client.  and now it still says server down....great job guys!
Title: THIS game? Hm.
Post by: Karyuu on February 25, 2006, 08:35:58 am
Too bad the torrent took so much time for some people (too bad some decided not to seed?). Server crashes happen in early development. Get used to them, seriously :) It\'s unfortunate that it had to happen now, but there are still bugs to take care of.

Welcome to an open game in early development ;)

Annon: Wish I could help further, but I\'m going to let someone else take over at this point. I believe it\'s beyond my territory of knowledge now.

I\'m not a BitTorrent expert but, perhaps switching your BT client can help, Annon

I\'d recommend you BitComet, it claims to be user-friendly with people behind firewall/router so you can give it a try.

Since none of us can get in your computer and try to configure things remotely, let\'s hope that the program itself is \"smart\" enough as to manage itself to stablish a connection.
You\'ll find info about the client, and how to download it at http://www.bitcomet.com

Well, there\'s no way to get Torrent going.  With all inbound ports blocked, and no way to change router settings, it\'s going to run at a nice, smooth, 3 days \'til download complete.

Not meaning to be rude guys, but COME ON AND GET THE MIRRORS UP!!  The game looks AWESOME!

*sigh*...*breathe*...okay now...

*edit*

Can I get an order of magnitude for how long it will be before .013 is on the mirrors?  Are we talking days or week or what?  If it is the latter, maybe I should try Torrent despite the 3 day waiting period.

I saw it, I just have no answer besides those I\'ve given - there are some issues, some known and some just popping up, so there\'s really no way to give an estimate. Sorry about that.
