Title: Color Blind
Post by: Vjorin on January 31, 2006, 11:56:51 pm
Is anyone else Red/Green color blind?  Because I didn\'t notice the red lettering concerning the server until Karyuu mentioned it, and I am indeed color blind.

I thought perhaps it would be possible to change its color, or move it out of that colored background.

:S Oops...

might indeed be better then to change it, or remember this for next time the server comes down..

How curious :) If the red text conflicts with the green background for you, perhaps it may be a good idea to switch to another forum style? Not sure how much better it would be, but there is a blue theme available (Forum Default) instead of the green-and-brown one.

Heh, I didn\'t think of that.  I chose the PlaneShift - Test template, and it looks good.  Very easy to read the \"Laanx Server...\" text at the top as well.

Thanks for the help. :)

I to am red-green colorblind.  It sucks.  Especially with computer games.

have you guys tried adjusting the color profile on your computer?  I am not color-blind, so I don\'t know how much it would help, but on a mac, you can pretty drastically alter color schemes fairly easily in the system preferences.

Altering the color scheme I think would be going a little too far.  Issues like this don\'t always come up that often.  It\'s just when certain colors of red are backgrounded by other certain colors and shades, it gets hard to see. Same goes for green.

Being color blind is really difficult to explain, because it doesn\'t really mean we can\'t see red or green.  Rather, it means we\'ll have difficulty distinguishing them from other colors, and, such as the example above, can be hard to see when backgrounded by certain colors.

...this brings me to another interesting problem I have.  In game, the skill system...yeah...

When I first started playing, I had no idea how to put skills up.  I thought the theoretical training was broke, because I couldn\'t see the green on the yellow...or the yellow on the green...

Which is it anyways? :)

bar is yellow for the practical training and green for the theretical training and red for the theoretical training you can still do if I am not mistaken. One of those things you don\'t often think about much ;)

Stupid question, but I\'m too curious...

Is it possible to be white/black colourblind*?

Also, I\'m feeling colourblind* at the moment, as my monitor is having issues.

*I am not British, but in a fantasy setting I use \"English English\"** or \"Ye Olde Olde English\"**.
**Yes, I know. Murders of the English language. Muahahahaa!

As neither white nor black are actual colors, no ;)

I have a proposition:

The pink text doesnt look right on light blue background, but yellow looks fine on all types of style.

I would like to see it yellow, would help my eyes a bit ;)

The pink on blue is kind of hard for even us non color blind people to read. :)

With my monitor on the blink (literally at times) the pink text is almost invisible on the blue background.
