Title: IMPORTANT! I'm becoming an RPer
Post by: Induane on February 21, 2006, 12:59:56 am: PlaneShift is about role playing. Everyone says so. Everyone intimately involved in PS wants it to be a real RPG. People who like RP point out that OOC behavior ingame is completely ruining their experience to the point that the game isn't fun anymore. Since I never RP'd ingame before, I realize that I must be spoiling the ingame experience for a dozen or even more people! I don't like to make peoples game experience ruined so as such I have decided to finally fall into the RP category myself. Now, what to RP? I have decided that Induane is actually a ruby crystal. This will open Induane up to many RP possibilities.

I will not use any tell messages ingame.
My character will not move at all while ingame.
I will not speak at all actually.
Induane could be a quest item.
People could stand around and look.
Someone could shine a light at me to see if I sparkle.
If Induane could think it could worship the giant crystal in the top of the stalactite.

The options are endless!

I wanted Induane to have his own picture like many do in the Great Fan Art project.

If anyone has any tips on how to be a good RP'r please let me know because I would hate to screw it up and ruin someones experience ingame by accidentally talking or something. Or what if I MOVED? I may disconnect my keyboard to avoid this awful situation.

Hopefully I can really make this work so that the ingame experience is bettered by my presence.

PlaneShift is a reality, Yliakum is real life to those living in it, thus you must treat Yliakum like you do Earth. If you are a crystal, then you must sit there, not saying anything, not doing anything. Maybe weather when it rains? Have the tip of your body crack off and fall onto the ground?

If you were actually a human character, you would speak like you normally would, saying \"Hello\" or \"Greetings\" depending on how aged and knowledgable your character is. A three year old would speak in tongues, if being able to speak at all, not being able to be understood and so on. Someone sixty years of age, would speak like he has seen everything this world has to offer, he would be very knowledgable, able to give advice, able to fit into a public with ease.

Choose which best suits your character. Knowledgable? Delinquent? Silent? Motormouth? You get the idea.

Also, my character in-game is an emerald crystal. Think we could form a guild?

Post by: Induane on February 21, 2006, 01:32:26 am: I was going to suggest that some other people RP other gems important to PlaneShift. A diamond could be fun to be too. you could get split up and made into jewelry, or various other awesome RP possibilities.

Thanks about the ruby crystal render comments, I labored for minutes and minutes on my laptop in the fantastic graphics design program known as mspaint.

Correct, posting about his character on the forum is OOC. Although he is not trying to be in character at the moment, he\'s merely commenting on his new life and how it can be implemented inside planeshift.

So overall, he most certainly does not lose.

Anyways, if I assume correctly the thread is mostly about others forcing people to play how they want.

This is not good but at the same time we should keep in mind what Talad wanted this game to be and that was a place for roleplayers to come. Later on bad roleplayers will be kicked to make room for good one, may aswell get some practice in before then :D

[Actually I was going to suggest it be moved to the Roleplaying forum so that the ideas and perfect RP can take place in a better environment.]

If you post further would anyone who posts here please use brackets so I can distinguish OOC from IC because otherwise it spoils the RP atmosphere. ]

[update! HELP ME! I am requesting that a GM or Dev teleport me from the death realm back to my home out on the ground in the wild area. I was sitting there innocently when something came and killed me. Now I\'m in the death realm. As my ruby crystal doesn\'t actually move and it would be OOC if it to do so I need the Induane character moved back to his home. Sitting in the DR in the main place where everyone spawns is kind of lame ]
