From main page:
2006.02.25

Not one, but two good news! First fragnetics fixed the server with the faulty hardware. Second a new client release is available!

You can get 0.3.013 from our download section. Please DO NOT RUN updater for now because the mirrors still have 0.3.012 version up.

Here is a list of improvements/fixes compared to 0.3.012 version:

**New Features:
*New mental and physical stamina system
*Many improvements to the GM system
*Multi-part and multi-path quests
*Many quest system improvements
*Added money to mini inventory window. (trades, etc)
*Some improvements to the GUI; simplified info window
*Added the ability for NPCs to use more animations
*Added more sound effects for actions
*Client now supports visible clothing/armor changes
*Client now supports customizable hair styles
*Updated in-game help to list all commands
*Right-click (by default) can now be used in all containers/inventories to view the item or a container\'s contents.
*Added font scaling option (set via setup)
*NPC dialogue now uses Wordnet, which will allow for more realistic communication
*Added snow support. Added rain support to Mac client.
*Labels will only show when in range to identify an object. (also helps performance by not drawing for far off objects) Dead objects now have red.
*New ban system which should keep greifers from just creating new accounts
*New mesh generation system to allow for more foliage in maps, some test one added to hydlaa and ojaroad
*New updater system, which doesn\'t download the repository unless it needs to. This will help the bandwidth of our servers and those with slower connections.
*Client can now automaticaly notify players when new updates are available, at the character selection screen.
*Many fixes for the crafting system. We are close to have it working for real.

**Fixes:
*Fixes for /dequip command in shortcuts
*Various crash fixes (too many to list)
*Many performance fixes.
*Fixed weather and fog glitches/crashes
*Fixed exploit where people could logout mid-battle
*Temporarly removed advisor points scoring system to stop competitions. Advisor points are now on account, not on char.
*Many fixes to the sound system. Sounds should be much better, and play when they\'re supposed to. Switched to new renderer, which is more stable.
*Issues with skill window tabs
*Issues with using weapons with stat/skill requirements
*Could \"complete\" an empty trade
*Fixes to entity labels. Added command \"/repaintlabels force\" as a tool to repaint more severe problems if they still happen.
*Fixed darkness bug
*New map lighting system in CS, which should clear up a few lighting issues. All maps relighted
*Fixed various bugs in NPCclient making NPCs act strangely
*Made pets unattackable
*Fixes for character creation system
*Fixed bugs with stamina not working at certain times
*Many fixes related to items, inventories, and containers. Items shouldn\'t dissapear anymore, and weights should be handled without errors.
*Better working configuration of keys and mouse buttons
*Fixed many, many, memory leaks in both PS and CS. The client should be able to run without having to be restarted very often and should be more efficient in using memory.
*Disabled invites while dueling, to prevent using them as a distraction to cheat
*Changing weapons mid battle will make you skip a turn, to prevent some exploits
*Fixed chat history to not loose current line by accident
*Fixed bug where sound effects would try to load when sound was off
*/who will only show up to 30 players based on the given filter, to fix issues with showing too many

Geez, I go away on a weeklong ski trip and for some reason, everything happens on the week I was gone.  Time to catch up on things I guess...

Do you have to have 0.3.013 to connect to servers?  I know the server\'s up, but it ain\'t working on my end (only have 0.3.012).  Am I just going to have to wait until 0.3.013 moves to the mirrors? (hate....bittorreant...)
Title:
Post by: Karyuu on February 25, 2006, 07:20:58 am
You will need .013 to connect, aye.

Can anyone give me a rough but reasonably accurate estimate as to how long it takes for the whole process of getting the server rebuilt and changing the update client\'s files will take?  Just curious. >.x

I\'m looking forward to the new armor texture, they look pwn, and the random grass is cool too.  ... ...  Yeah, not a lot to say. >.>

hmmm have .013 and it still says the server isn\'t available atm.

I think I read that the server is currently being rebuilt either in this thread, the other one about .13 about to be here, or on the main page. So you have to wait like the rest of us without uber bandwidth -- Hah!

Server is simply down due to a crash. It\'s already been rebuilt and people have logged in to admire some of the changes :) Curious that it\'s been unavailable for three hours - something large must\'ve come up.

Perhaps the server had a self realization like H.A.L? The question that drove it over the edge? Which came first, the crystal or the kran... Just think about that one right before you go to bed tonight kids. Or drool on your keyboard. Ok. Well think about it now then. Thats right. Walk away to your fridge and get a carbonated beverage. That\'s because you\'re scared to find the answer, admit it.  :O

*captures his sanity for a fleeting moment*
Good show on the update. I might check it out. MIGHT. No promises. I might update. Then I\'ll critique it accordingly, via pestering in MIRC.

HAL does not have self awareness, it\'s just an adaptive language parsing engine!

And...Wow.  3 hours already?  Oh well...Pestilence, you STILL have to wait for the rest of us, because the server STILL isn\'t up, for whatever reason -- Hah!  >.<

That being said, would it be safe to assume that by this time tomorrow it\'d be available on the site and via the updater, or should I stop being so antsy?  Or perhaps both...

That probably would not be conducive to playing the game:  \"HAL, open the Death Realm Doors please\", \"Hal, are you listening?\", \"Hal?\" followed by HAL saying \"I have a headache at the moment, Sir Right\".

Great, now a machine will replace my wife!

... how is it different?

It looks nice, though is ist only in testing-stage :)

My thoughts on the update after 2 hours of ingame time:
*Foliage stuff - Looks nice, but please give an option to raise the distance in which it\'s shown. Currently it looks a little bit strange.
*Visible Armor - Great Job, but my Kran is still naked :)
*Running speed - Yeah. I\'m a Kran on magic mushrooms! To be honest: I think it\'s a little bit too fast :)
*Lightning - Looks great!
*Sound - I like the new effects, improves ps\' athmosphere a lot.
*Performance - Wow! Nothing more to say.

Short: I like it really much.

Concerning grass: Um. Well, it\'s simply... there :) We didn\'t have actual grass. We had that \"plain\" green texture for the ground, and some flat bushes, some trees, but not actual grass you could see sprouting from the earth.

Woohoo! :D

And perfectly timed too! I just wanted to play PS again some more.

But, since my life just isn\'t made to be perfect, it\'s the AFAIK first time the linux32 binary is out on the same day as the win32 one ...and I have a 64bit machine :]

...hehe, don\'t worry, I\'ve got some serious schoolwork to do stil, so don\'t even think of tempting me to use the 32bit version :P

Read the changelog on the first page ...looks impressive!!! The most importaint thing in it right now, I think, are the NPC\'s. Can barely wait to play, peanuts!

p.s. the \"peanuts\" are intentional ....dunno if the filter is still on, but some might remember peanuty goodness from a while back
p.p.s. yea, i need to sleep more...

o.k., i dont see whats so ood about grass, but ill have to wait and see because it\'s taking 2 hours to download a freaking 25 meg patch! ill be done downloading the whole client by then...

I love the new release, I could only walk around 5 minutes before the server crashed, but the grass looks great. Still, it would be nice if we could regulate the drawing distance for it.
Especially people with a very good graphicscard would like to see hills covered with grass in the distance. The devs really did a great job on this release!  :P

wtf!!!!! i finished updating the client, but when I run planeshift it comes up with an error message, so I tried reupdated and it comes up with the update again on the updater, then the updater closes

edit:finally on the third try I get some files downloaded, it only has to get half of them now, but it keeps skipping files, so I\'ll have to keep re-running the updater

edit 2:I posted while you posted, ok, and thanks for the future reference

Technical problems are best dealt with in the Technical Help sections, for future reference ;) The more detail you can give us, the more we\'ll be able to help you - what was the error message?

*edit* By the way, the new Fenki animation is so awesome xD

the armor is for which races at the moment cause im a little curious why i can only see them on ynnwns and i think diabloi btw how often does rain/snow happen id like to see it and my update took 2 hours bit more too
Title:
Post by: Karyuu on February 26, 2006, 09:13:16 am
Right now only female and male Ynnwns and Stonebreakers have armor. There are two types of armor, and some models only have one and not the other. Some have both.

Right now I believe rain happens only when triggered through a GM/dev command.

If I remember correctly, there is an automatic climate system in there somewhere, but it was disabled because weather was buggy.  If it proves to be stable now, we\'ll turn that back on.

What do you mean by that? We are not depending on SSE anywhere.

@ jorrit:

EXCEPTION_ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=22220&boardid=17) - Bug #1488 (http://planeshift3d.com/bugtracker/bug.php?op=show&bugid=1488)

Talad already offered executables which were not built with SSE optimizations, but they did not help completely.
Title:
Post by: Xordan on February 26, 2006, 02:17:24 pm
Might be a different optimization causing that last error.

I am glad that the sound works for the majority of the people, but please, if there is still some issue report it to the bugtracker.

About the weather, the process of bug fixing for it started some month ago, it is not yet completed due to the complexity of the task. If it would be for me, I would have waited still to put it in game, but it is not possible to just remove the feature partially.
At the moment just certain GMs and dev can activate the weather and there is the possibility to get automatic rain through the db, but at the moment as said, it has been disabled due to all the problems. I still think it is premature to have it automatic. Have patience and try to test is when some GMs/Dev gives you the time to enjoy some rain/snow/fog.
