Title: Problem with CVS version
Post by: Baston on February 26, 2006, 05:06:57 pm
Hello all,

I tried to update the game with the lovely easy_planeshift script and it works perfectly (as usual) but when I launch the game...
Hell ! it doesn\'t work at all.
I get a great amount of messages relative to crystalspace(syntax and graphics3d). A trace of the error is attach to this post.
I get the same kind of error when I try to run ./psrun pssetup.
I\'m running a Slackware 10.2.

My question : am I alone ? If not, any trick for me ?
In the meantime I restart from start with a freshly untar-ed easy_planeshift... I hope this will works.

It looks like psclient is using an old version of CrystalSpace. I am not familiar with the easy_planeshift script, but check that CRYSTAL and CEL environment variables have proper values for your new build.

Hmmm.. I don\'t think that\'s possible because in the psrun script we can find :

#!/bin/bash

BinDir=`pwd`\"/binaries\"

# I split here

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=\"${BinDir}/cal3d/lib/:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH\" \\
        CRYSTAL=\"${BinDir}/crystalspace/lib/crystalspace\" \\
        CEL=\"${BinDir}/cel/lib/cel\" \\
        $Command

So it\'s highly probable that the correct version is used, but a possibility is that easy_planeshift download a wrong version of CS. I hope it\'s not the case...

Set correct dates in buildlist.cfg, the following works for me well (but i don\'t use easy_planeshift):

cal3d           2005-05-18 12:00:00
crystalspace    2006-02-19 00:00:00
cel             2006-02-19 00:00:00
planeshift      2006-02-26 00:00:00

Then rebuild.

CS date visible in topic of #planeshift-build is incorrect (2006-02-17 00:00:00), there was a bug in xmlshader (which You are experiencing), which was fixed on 2006-02-18.

Ok thank you !

I\'ll try that right now.
Title: easy_planeshift ok, but planshift has issues

Hi all,

after some information gathering & test compilling i had a successful running updater, pssetup + psclient.

but first i reallised was that the updater gui doesnt show any information updates when not moving the window! strange isn\'t it?

seccond i saw my char walking round in the sewers for some steps then i died. then i was placed in the very bottom of death realm. this is the only place i can walk! but when i /die to get to the place in the cave i cant walk anymore and console only says \"Is inmobile\" no /unstick nor /die nor restart - wich drops me to the very bottom of death realm again - help here.

My HW configs:
CPU: AMD64
RAM: enough
HDD: enough
GFX: Nvidia Geforce 5700 (TwinView)

My SW configs:
OS: SuSE 10.0
WM: KDE 3.5.1a

Here (http://\"http://www.mueller-welt.net/mwnet/files/planeshift/eps_build.txt\") u can find the easy_planeshift build log.
Here (http://\"http://www.mueller-welt.net/mwnet/files/planeshift/eps_con.txt\") u can find the psclient console log.

For starters you don\'t have the CG toolkit installed. Get it through your package manager or from nvidia\'s developer zone. Then run the build script again.

OK,

i don\'t know what the CG toolkit has to do with my prob, but i loaded version 1.4 from Nvidias dev page.

recompilled all stuff. I think crystalspace is the only package that uses CG.

but the the problem still persists. i cannot move.
All gfx is shown good. i can change camera view and do mouse lookarounds.

Any other hint/suggestion?

CG is required for you to see our shaders and such. Notice that the warning about the cg plugin not being present in the new console log.

Have you tried getting a GM to move you?
Title: Moved around - for some steps
Post by: RalphMW on March 01, 2006, 01:51:05 am
Hi Xordan,

Noxide moved my char around and for some steps i could walk.

But now standing on Hydlaa Plaza i still cant move: \"Is inmobile\"

Shall i compile with debug symbols? Wanna have a gdb trace?

what i try next is a new Character, maybe that helps.
Update1: didnt help, same probs.

and i update my Nvidia drivers.
Update2: nope now using 8187. doesnt help

Lets see ho it goes...

I dont know why but i can move/play again.

what i did:
i updated to cvs HEAD and recompilled with -debug enabled.
i run updater and some files where updated.

then started psclient and it worked like a charm.

:-)
I m ingame again!

THX to all who helped.

PS: i Uploaded PS 3.013 .exe and .bin to www.mueller-welt.net (http://\"http://www.mueller-welt.net/mwnet/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=5\")
