Title: gimme headex, I was swinging a claymore..
Post by: dying_inside on March 11, 2006, 09:33:54 am
Ok, I\'m confused, so  it would help if someone cleared this up for me.
Why, would physical fighting affect your mental stamina?
I could understand physical stamina, but surely mental stamina would be coupled with mana and magic, rather than swinging a claymore and a battle axe around?
Dunno, maybe I\'m missing something, and there is some reason for this, buuuut... as of yet I have yet to figure it out, so if this could be explained to me, I would be gratefull.
As for the simple sulution of getting some lighter weaponry, yeah I would but it doesnt fit my character. For now I\'ll just train. But I\'m genuinly curiouse about this mental weariness after decapitateing something.
At least then I have a reason to need some headache pills after killing a rogue....

\"Headex\"? You probably mean \"headache\"...

I\'m not completely sure about the semantic meaning of \"mental stamina\" either, and agree \"physical stamina\" to be more logical. I could only imagine that you \"get bored and tired about so much slaying\"...

dying_inside asks: Why, would physical fighting affect your mental stamina?

I have been wondering that as well and the only answer I could think of would be the emotional stress of combat.
Other than that it makes no sense to me.

It relates to stress at Satayne said. You could also see mental stamina as the morale meter, it explains how much will or fight is left in you

Wouldn\'t some people increase their moral as they killed more things?

I assume nobody here has been in a proper sword fight. A lot of fighting is quite tiring mentally. You have to concentrate very hard. Not much mental stamina should be drained compared to physical though.

Title: will affects mental stamina

The stat of will is directly tied to mental stamina--being attacked and getting injured greatly affects will.  In the manual it is explained that weak willed characters do not endure prolonged fights.

Have you ever ran a mile or more, then tried to take a test 3 minutes later? It\'s seriously tough. They have tests like that at NASA and the Nike corp does it too. Physical activity drains mental thought like... raw hamburger through a grinder.
