Title: Help Mentak become a better artist...
Post by: Mentak on March 11, 2006, 07:58:18 pm
Well, here it is :3. My first attempt at a Enki. I geared towards my PS charicter Mentak Azohe (an axe/brown way master). Hope it\'s not too strange for you.

I drew it on a note book, then scanned it onto photoshop. Then i took off the blue notebook lines. I do however have a picture of Conan I drew yesterday when he visited Finland. Anyway, I started at the head and moved my way down. Enjoy :o).

Yes, it\'s good. Did you, by any chance, have a large pen with lots of ink?:D

It\'s a really good start, don\'t take me wrong. The character you are drawing seems to be in an unusual position. Instead of the left shoulder i think your axe should be on the right side, which would make him a bit more intimidating[Ooh, axe too close, OooOooh, i know.]

The head fits into the more selfconfident posture and that would be the one i wrote up there!^

Last, use more paper next time, leaves space for more details!:)

Good luck, mate!

Its good, but i do have a few sugestions.

1: No more thick lines. They work only when they are neatly drawn (no offense) and only in certain areas where the shadows are very intese, sorta speak.

2: like the posts say above, the position is good, but its a shame to leave him so..plain. Try adding some details. The fur on the other hand can be sugested even without drawing every hair, just the edges. If your not too sure on your drawing, use very fine lines and then thicken them a bit when you are SURE you want it to stay that way.

3. This is just a practice sugestion. Take a part of a body you want to improve (eg:hands) and then draw as many and as well as you can, every chance you get. Use reference as help. Draw them in every position you can think of, and keep in mind that no mater what type of body part your drawing, its position is limited to the bones, and muscles inside.

I really think youre on the right track though. My guess is that with enough practice you\'ll be able to see imporvement in 6 months time. Even sooner, who knows. :)
