Hi to all.
Hmm ... this is a good question ... Our goal is to make a free MMORPG ... so we hope that it will remain FREE forever ... we hope. :)

BTW ... forgot to say ... want to join the Black Order? ... http://www.black-order.go.ro - send me or one of the other High Councils an email if you want to join. Some reasons to join? We are one of the biggest and maybe the powerfull clan for Planeshift ... :)

Should a member of the PS team really be promoting a guild? I thought that in the past this activity had been discouraged for members of the team, and that in public, impartiality towards guilds was encouraged so accusations of favouritism in disputes would be minimised. Surely in some ways it is also unfair to other guilds who are trying to establish themselves without the aid of members of the official PS team. Don?t get me wrong I don?t think members should be excluded from guild activity, it?s just I think in terms of recruitment, a newbie looking for a guild is instantly going to attracted to one that appears to be affiliated in some way with the team behind the game.

In some ways you are right. Anyway ... A dev. is not allowed to be a leader of a guild. As you know I am only a High Council, so I am not breaking any rule. I founded it, but I am not leading it. PS will be a game that supports guilds, so is very good that are many ... there are only a few guilds where are devs - Black Order (5 devs.), GDC (1 dev. - washi) and 2 - 3 other guilds ... Maybe you\'ll right about the thing that I am promoting BO, I will stop this, and all the clans will have equal chances in reruiting now ... I don\'t want that you will \"look at us\" with \"evil eyes\" and think that we are only this big because the devs. that are in this clan are using their powers ... I think you understand us - we are working at PS, but, like other fans we want to play it.

Thank you for hearing my concerns and being so reasonable about it. It?s a shame really that people like Washi had to step down from his position in the GDC,  but I totally see the reasons - I don?t think it should mean that a PS team member?s role in a guild should be less active, like you say they want to play too! Perhaps their position should just be a little less public ;)

Anyway, perhaps you could appoint someone from the BO to take on the recruitment and PR role. I?m sure you have enough work to do with Planeshift PR anyway.

And as for being the biggest and maybe most powerful guild in PS, I think you may have a battle on your hands there, after all the BO may be active in other games, but has yet to prove itself here. At this early stage other guilds seem to be taking the limelight at the moment ;) You should convince the rest of your members to make their presence more known here (if they are indeed active members ;) :P)

All that said, good luck with the guild :D

(BTW, you (or whoever recruits) could probably use a direct link to the BO site in your sig - a bit easier for people than trying to read the URL, you know how lazy we are ;)))

Hmmm, yes amazing what you see when you actually look.

Just change the letters around in \'Keldorn Mortal Man\'  and it actually translates to \'Naked Troll or Man, m?\'.
I think the answer must be the troll, after twisting my words like that ;) :P

Because many a game (especially MMORPGS) initially promised to be free but switched to P2P once enough people started playing.  Either you MUST pay or there will be many unbalancing features introduced for the non-P2Pers.  It\'s a legitimate concern.

well, still...even then if they promised they were going to be free and then later changed to pay to play, then they thought they were going to be free, they didn\'t know it would have to become p2p because they ran out of money/wanted money for their work....it\'s not like asking if it is going to remain free will help.

Yeah, we all know it\'s either going to go p2p or it\'s going to fail, but there have already been like 5, 10 page threads on this and all have the same exact stuff in them.

ths game is opensource... so that anyone can host a server and accept players. We won\'t be able to make pay anything even if we wanted to. But I think that PS amdins will accept donations for server bandwidth and all...

They can only legally run a server using the source code, not all the media and stuff, but it\'s not to hard to get around all that.

Who said it will be free \"forever\" ?
They can decide they want to make a members servers and with special skills f2p\'ers (free 2 play ) wont have .. take for example runescape ... they first said it is free to all (it still is but ...) they now got p2p (pay 2 play ) on less lagged , no banners servers .. with all kind of new armor / weapon / skills and lots more monsters in it.
f2p is still kinda fun to play but p2p much better so it just get the feeling to play out of the game ..

anywayz i mean it can be free for sometime but not forever... i guess. :P

The developers said that it will never be pay, besides, it\'s open source, there is no way to charge for it.

Ya, they said it would be free forever and from what I understand that is what attracted some of the devs in the first place (at least I think so, since that makes it stand out a little more)

Yea, they can run the server, alright. But they wont have the dungeons, the cities, the npcs, the quests and yadda yadda yadda.. All they\'ll have, is the server. And you don\'t exactly get far with only that, now, do you? :D
