Title: Free experience
Post by: McHammer on March 21, 2006, 02:43:58 pm
I fought against rat in the sewers, but when i was almost killed the rat, i had only few hp\'s left and i ran away.
When i climbed up from the sewers i gained 30 xp points.
I thought it was because someone killed the rat i was fought before, but im not sure.

Weird...  Was it 30 experience points or 30 progression points?

Maybe the rad died?  30 exp isn\'t that much, so it\'s probably related to that.  Could be lag or something.

30 xp is exactly what you get from a rat if I\'m not mistaken so I\'m guessing lag just made sure you got your reward for killing the rat a bit late. You probably did kill the rat but due to lag it had the time to run away and only dropped dead later.

At least that\'s my guess.

Another idea:

You already hurt the rat remarkably before you escaped. Maybe the rat followed you up a ladder, missed it near the top and fell down, then died from falling damage.

i dont believe i killed it, because it had quite a lot hp left and i gained those xp points when i was next to blacksmiths workshop so quite far from sewers...

....or maybe i remember wrong....i dunno....this isnt an important problem anyway.

NPCs don\'t take fall damage.

Because if they did, everyone would just be letting the npc\'s in the arena falling down stairs and stuff :)

I guess the rat maybe drowned in the sewer canal... (someone flushed the toilet and the rat got swept away?)

This magically arises the question in my head... what year is it in the game? Somewhere in the late 1600? Medieval times?

I don\'t remember seeing a toilet from back then.. let alone a sewer canal hehe. But then again, Morrowind has strange features too i believe. Oh i love these fantasy MMOrpg\'s!!

Keep up the game!

Year 1600? I think the game world\'s chronology has no connection to our chronology.

i did get 23 xp in oja road before. without hitting a single npc monster, that was very weird tho i was just exploring the wilderness and the closest i been to fighting, was the agro u get from passing near some of the monsters.

perhaps there was a glitch in the devying of exp, so it awarded like how it does when players are in group?  you took it down some, then ran away, and got some exp for your efforts as some one else later then killed it off?

just throwing out discussion ideas here.

Actually if you want to know, sewers were already common in pre-medieval times. Sewers that date back to 3200 BC have been discovered and they were quite common in ancient Babylonian, Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Chinese civilisations. Of course in the dark ages they became a bit neglected, like almost everything else.
But like someone said .. the world of Planeshift doesn\'t follow earthly timelines.

As for the xp thing .. did you actually get the experience or did a message just pop up saying you got xp? I\'m asking this because the chat acts odd regularly. It\'s not completely uncommon to recieve a chat message that wasn\'t meant for you at all so it could be that someone else earned that experience but you just happened to \'intercept\' the chat message.
