Title: First Yliakum Militia exercise
Post by: Ogu on March 24, 2006, 03:03:20 pm
There will be a Yliakum Militia exercise planned for Tuesday, 28th March, 22:00 GMT (5 pm EST).

All militia volunteers should gather in Hydlaa plaza, where we will set off on our mission.

Squad leaders should assemble in the Plaza half an hour earlier for a briefing.

More information can be found in the Militia page (http://ugo.sinet.it/planeshift/index.php/YliakumMilitia/HomePage). Anyone who wishes to volunteer should contact me (Ogu) ingame or refer to the militia page.

See you all there,
Ogu Rainami

p.s. I don\'t know if this is the right section to post this thread... feel free to move it if necessary.  :)

Not posting does not mean no one is interested.  I think you shall be happy with the amount of people that will be there.

also, if you haven\'t noticed, the forums are a bit empty right now due to a problem with the planeshift3d.com name being down.  only way to get to the forums is through planeshift.oodlz.com  There are many PS community forums just saying the PS forums appear to be down (understandable since everyone was told to use the planeshift3d.com name over the oodlz one a little bit ago) so I\'ve been going around making a simple post saying they need to use the other one again.  Perhaps you would like to help?

as for the reason it is down, my last info was the big guys up stairs were still waiting to find out themselves.

Hi Ogu,
Can\'t find you ingame at the moment. I can\'t make it due to time zone stuff. I\'ll be at school!

Sorry Maybe have someone on the other side of the world host a second training session?

I am sure there will be more exercise\'s in the future. I don\'t think all excecise\'s to come will be held at the same time every time. So no worries Nyramael, I am sure there will be one to suit your time at one point or another. :D

*wonders if he missed something*

I\'m a bit confused as to what this Yliakum Militia is, who is part of it and who is running it?

*wanders off pondering the idea of one big military power to \'look over\' the world*

/me wonders if Zan read the first post by Ogu and looked at the link he provided. That might have answered most of his questions.

I did but I found it a bit confusing and it didn\'t really answer much, or as least as much as I had hoped it would.

Off of the Yliakum Militia site:

\"The Yliakum Militia is a voluntary armed force sworn to defend the freedom of Yliakum and its citizens in times of need only. We welcome anyone who is willing to follow orders for the greater good and shares our beliefs. We do not tolerate abuse of authority and will only call upon the might of the militia when it is absolutely necessary. \"

a side note also off of the site:

The Militia is not intended for PvP battles. It can only be used in simulated battles against NPCs like the Rogue invasion of Ojaveda.

i guess if you have questions you should ask here then..

Stay Safe,
Easton Ghent

I changed my mind, no more questions :P I\'d rather not criticize this initiative with my issues here.

I won\'t be there myself but I wish you all the best and a good training experience!

Unfortunately, the Milita Exercise was scheduled for the same time as the Server Maintenance.

So it will be postponed to another day and time.

And I hope it will start earlier next time, because Europeans are always handicapped with such a schedule.

Well, the Militia exercise did take place, in part... until the server went down for maintenance.

We gathered in the Plaza and the turnout was very satisfactory, we reached 39 people in the group. Thanks to you all... you make it all worth while.  :)

A word on Azure Squad guild: This guild was created solely for the purpose of the exercise. Many people were worried about joining it, and I would like to reassure them. Azure Squad guild is not to be considered a guild, as it has no other purpose than to provide the guildless people in an exercise with a communications channel. At the end of the exercise, the people in it will be graciously kicked out. ;)

All the other squads will be formed by guilds, since they can use their own guild chat. Even though all participants are grouped together, the group chat is reserved for long-range communication between squad leaders. For all other communications, we use normal chat and /shout.

We\'re going to have this exercise again, and finish it. To make things simpler, the guild leaders need to contact Ogu ingame or refer to the Militia page (http://ugo.sinet.it/planeshift/index.php/YliakumMilitia/HomePage) to enlist their volunteers and make the grouping easier and quicker. The volunteers need to be informed by their squad leaders and they really need to accept the group invites... so many people were declining. Likewise, the guildless people need to know where to go to be invited into Azure Squad. It\'s a lot to organize, but if we plan ahead we can carry out an enjoyable exercise without wasting too much time.

This was the first time we ever planned such an exercise and it was mostly a learning experience. We have learned a lot and will be putting our lessons to the test next time. Again, thanks to all who participated in any way, for your help and your patience. Next time, it will be better! ;)

Last but certainly not least, a warm thank you to all the people who helped organize the exercise. It\'s people like you who make this game alive.

*Ogu bows*

Well done Ogu.

I had great fun leading Azure Squad. They were an honourable bunch. Now that i have my own guild, ill try and clean it up in time for the next exercise. I can\'t wait to finish a full exercise. And of course.. if you need any help you know where to find me.

Stay Safe,
Easton Ghent

I have never in the whole time being in Yliakum seen such a gathering and it was exciting to see all these people participate. Thank you to all of the people who came to join in the event and had patience when the organizing was taking place. I am looking forward greatly to the next exercise and know it will be twice as fun just by trial and error with the first exercise.

Now for my favortie part Screenis \\o/
I was really impressed with the Way Of The Hammer Guild and their formation. We could learn alot from them. :D Way to go.....

Ogu and all who helped! I for one loved the exercise!!! Shame about the server, but what the hell, next time, we\'ll finish it.

If any one feels like posting some screenies here, please do so, so I can brag a bit more about the dwarven squad :p

Well, we have Proglin\'s superb organization and leadership skills to thank.  I loved the syncronized salutes.  I wonder what it would look like with a squad of 50 dwarves.  :D

A big thumbs up to Hammer Squad for being the most organized group in the excercise.  They are indeed a force to be reckoned with.
I think the excercise went very well for being the first one and although my task of grouping everyone was delayed by a couple of declines, things went fairly smoothly overall, at least until the crash.
I have to give Lord Ogu and all the squad leaders a pat on the back for this one.
As far as Azure squad goes, I did not envy Easton his task and he did well with what he had, I would also like to thank that motley bunch for showing some self control and not running amok.
The next one is going to be even better.
:D

/me smiles at Shorty13
I have taken almost 1000 screenshots since i started playing PS in October, 2005  so that is not a lot of screenshots in comparison.

And Zorbels I will get back to you on that request as we get closer to the final date that is to be determined still.
