Title: Niko's GUI mods
Post by: Nikodemus on March 27, 2006, 04:17:10 pm
This are few modified xmls and one backdrop image for modified skill window.

The complete instructions you will find at PS-MC forum (http://ps-mc.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=19)  and  CO downloads (http://www.freepgs.com/crimsonorder/downloads.html).

I don\'t plan to expand it, because i edit some xml only when i think it could be made better and for skills window a background was necessary.
Help window I have made resizable. You might get confused when you run ps first time with this xml installed. Find the resizing square at the right bottom of the window and resize to your needs. You may need to move it up to see the square.
Control window consists only small visual change to explain better guikeys.xml mod
The rest you will have to check by yourself, some of them you see on the screenie ;)

***UPDATED***

guikeys.xml (http://crimsonorder.freepgs.com/things/ps-mc/guikeys.xml) - \Planeshift\data\
control.xml (http://crimsonorder.freepgs.com/things/ps-mc/control.xml) - \Planeshift\data\gui\ WONT MAKE SENSE WITHOUT guikeys.xml
helpwindow.xml (http://crimsonorder.freepgs.com/things/ps-mc/helpwindow.xml) - \Planeshift\data\gui\

itemdesc.xml (http://crimsonorder.freepgs.com/things/ps-mc/itemdesc.xml) - \Planeshift\data\gui\
merchant.xml (http://crimsonorder.freepgs.com/things/ps-mc/merchant.xml) - \Planeshift\data\gui\
inventory.xml (http://crimsonorder.freepgs.com/things/ps-mc/inventory.xml) - \Planeshift\data\gui\

spellwindow.xml (http://crimsonorder.freepgs.com/things/ps-mc/spellwindow.xml) - \Planeshift\data\gui\
glyph.xml (http://crimsonorder.freepgs.com/things/ps-mc/glyph.xml) - \Planeshift\data\gui\

skillwindow.xml (http://crimsonorder.freepgs.com/things/ps-mc/skillwindow.xml) - \Planeshift\data\gui\
skills.png (http://crimsonorder.freepgs.com/things/ps-mc/skills.png) - \Planeshift\art\skins\mygui.zip\backdrop      <-- Image.

I did some skillwindow edit before, but devs didn\'t like it. Maybe this one is better.

Woo..! I think that\'s too much eye-candy :) It\'s really busy with all the various colors, and they are all so vivid that I have a hard time concentrating on anything. You have to tone down the background and borders for everything, because they are not the central subject of the window - they are supposed to enhance.

Commenting on the skills screenshot alone :)

Karyuu, maybe i should decrease saturation, or brightness?
I don\'t have problems to focus on what is important in the window, but it\'s me :P Editing xmls is more simple than making images and i have pay more attention to the xmls.

The thing what annoy me at most is the way how PAWS resize every image displayed in GUI... It resize even if it is told to not to xD
My background would look far more better, especially in 800x600.

As for continuing work, tell me what you would like to change in some window and i will see what i can do about it. If it will be needed, I make a background.

Resurrection!

Fixed the broken links and added new example image! Everything in the first post

.017 is there and so I refresh my xml mods. I also confirm that they still work.

I'm interested how many people are using them, because i have no way to check it and i wonder if they are good enough. For me the gui is so annoying without them ;)

Writing this i also wonder if fan art is a good place, considering the fact there is only one arty image ;)
