This is merely a half-thought idea... The idea is to make it possible for normal people to edit the PS world or at least part of it, just like people can edit in a Wiki.
People could \"experiment\" in a sandbox-like area with creating landscapes, towns and such stuff. Maybe they could even add NPCs and build quests. If someone builds a rich, nice environment, it could be integrated into the \"real\" PS world.
To build areas, there could be some scripting (or merely description) language available. It can create rough landscapes and place pre-made objects (houses like those in Hydlaa, trees, monsters, NPCs) in the landscape.
Wikis have shown quite an amazing potential. In my opinion a similar potential could be used to expand the PS world very quickly. The drawback is of course that the player-created worlds are probably not as high-quality as the dev-created ones.
Thoughts, comments, ideas?

People can already do this if they manage to build their own test server and know how the programming works. If someone can do that at this point, they should just join the team :)
If you\'re leaning more towards the team creating tools to let the playerbase build their own experiments, that\'s going to be pretty much at the bottom of the To Do List. This doesn\'t include things like letting players build houses or similar once the features are there.
But since PS is open-source in the first place, if you\'ve the knowledge, you can just jump in. The game isn\'t large enough at the moment at all to warrant putting effort into a sandbox area for player experimentation.
Personally, I\'m not too fond of the idea - it would mean anyone can do this (and I\'m more than sure that over 70% of the results would be dreadful), too many maps to load, reusage of elements that would otherwise be unique to a specific area, etc.
To me it just doesn\'t seem like something to discuss at this point ;)

I don\'t like the idea either... the PS world seems to be made with an overall plan and a lot of attention to ballance and colour. They would all go down the drain if your suggestion went through.

Indeed, any plans or direction would be lost. Plus such a concurrent editing system, net-based, free for all etc would probably be a bigger project than PS itself. ;)

And, people could have it so that in this one, distant area that nobody else knows about they could load a spawn point for a kick-arse 1,000,000 slash sword right in front of them and then delete it.
Then there are a couple of pervs out there who would... you get the idea.
Other reasons not to... I have more...

Just to prove that this is not impossible, here an example :

Yes, i know the name sounds pretty funny, espcially maybe for german People.
But the Project is quite impressive. Although it\'s not an RPG, it\'s about creating worlds ingame.
Please consider this Post as neutral in the discussion if something like this is good or bad for an MMPORPG, this is just about the technical side of it.

It may not be impossible, but it would be impractical and would ruin the general feel of the game.
