Do you meet this?
Minimum Requirements:

    * Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP, Mac OS X 10.2.6, Linux, FreeBSD or Solaris
    * GeForce 2 or higher 3D graphics card
    * 1 Ghz CPU
    * 512 MB RAM
    * 1 GB free disk space
    * 56k modem Internet connection

Recommended Requirements:

    * Windows XP, Mac OS X 10.2.6, Linux or FreeBSD
    * GeForce 4 or higher 3D graphics card
    * 2 Ghz CPU
    * 1 GB RAM
    * 1 GB free disk space
    * Broadband Internet connection

When reporting try to add information regarding your system, and if there\'s an error, it\'s number... even screenshots can be useful when it comes to graphic issues.

Your system info should have been better posted in this thread.
That you\'ve 256 MB of RAM is indeed a bottle neck, and perhaps you\'ll have choppy performance, but you\'d be able to see things correctly. The thing you forgot to mention, was the graphic card you\'re using, and keep in mind that since you\'re having graphic issues, that\'s an important information.
If you\'ve a 3d graphics card capable of running \"recent\" games, you probably have either an ATI or a NVIDIA one.
Try to check their websites:
http://www.ati.com
http://www.nvidia.com
There you can find free downloads of graphic drivers for your Operating System, that could solve your problem.

Recommended Requirements:
    * Broadband Internet connection

I wouldn't worry about the broadband connection as i played PS for 7 weeks and 1 day on 56k whilst changing ISP without any lag but since i got BB back i still get the same pings.

How strange.
