Title: Planeshift writes and writes...
Post by: eiffel56 on April 03, 2006, 08:48:53 pm
Hello,

everytime I play Planeshift,it writes and writes into the RAM.If it is full,it continues with my swap partition and file until it?s full, too.
And then my CPU is under 100% work and it writes and writes(i think it tries to move the data).
What should i do?Yesterday i?ve played the day long and it all works great. But today...
Using Ubtuntu 5.10 with official NVidia Driver on NVIdia TNT2(yes,it works great).768MB physical RAM,512MB swap partition and 512MB swap file.
I hope anyone can understand my english.I?m from Germany

i think it\'s a memory leak with the sound system of planeshift. I heard that it\'s fixed in cvs but i\'m not totally sure about it. Disabling sound from the setup tool helped me a lot.. no more swapping and out of memory problems...

It is a memory leak in the CrystalSpace sound system. The memory leak is fixed in the CVS version, but not yet made available for the public.

Disable sound effects in the game options and you should be fine.

Apart from the DR where I still seem to have a memory leak despite having sound off :(

Disabling sound is not a good idea :D

I think i try to compile via CVS.Thanks.

EDIT: ehm,i never used CVS before. Can anyone explain me how to compile via CVS?

If you don\'t know what it is, you\'ll have some issues...

If you still want to try, there are some build guides in our docs dir (http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/planeshift/planeshift/docs/).
