Title: no seed for the new version(bt download)
Post by: gitawego on April 10, 2006, 02:02:10 am
I\'m downloading the new version client(0.3.014), but there isn\'t any seed:0/88
I see all the peers are stuck at 87%
I\'m afraid I can\'t finish this download :(

Don\'t worry.  There is at least one seed that I know of.  When I started the DL about 1 hour ago everyone was at 65%.  Good luck Gitawego-san.

ah.. yeah. really. I get 88% now.. it\'s weird, \'cause I don\'t see any seed in my BT, and when I get 87%,  I only have 8.8 kb/s(before, it was 300 kb/s)

well i think its gettign better beacuse im stuck at 96% so we are getting there lol

Aye, there aren\'t that many seeders available with the complete files, so I expect it to slow down tremendously as you hit 95% and above, unfortunately.

Seeding? *??*

How do you see all those numbers?  I can\'t find an option for any such menu.

(woot! only 19 hours left!)

Zanzy,  try azureus.

There are others that are probably better, but I stick with what I know and with what works.  For me, its Azureus.  Though with the recent client update pushed out a week or so ago, the thing has a bigger memory footprint than ever.  May not be a feasible option if you\'re running a machine that could use a memory upgrade.

Azareus?  Memory footprint?  I\'m using bittorent.  I think I\'m talking to you via a computer.

Azureus is a bit torrent client.  Aka dl manager for torrents.

Memory footprint:  under windows:  bring up task manager  go to processes, its the column entitled Mem usage.  aka, how much ram that dll or exe or whatever is currently using.  Azureus tends to take up 40 to 50 meg I have noticed lately.

and since links are always nice:

I downloaded the new release in 4,5 hours and left
the dowloader open for 5 hours after it was finished.
So everyone was able to use my connection to download, till this moment.

We already discovered few bugs in it, and we plan to re-release the full package in few days. Download the above only if you really want it  Otherwise just wait few days and you will get the final 0.3.014.

So i will have to download the whole thing again?
Or can i perhaps keep the first download and use the updater when the mirrors are updated? When could that be?
My problem is that i am (more or less) limited to 2000Mb of internet-traffic per month. 250 Mb for the client (+ some for seeding) would not have been problematic, but 500Mb for two versions of it is limiting my opportunities.

If you\'ve got a bad ISP with a bandwidth cap, you can wait until the update servers are ready.  Using the updater will be the smallest hit.

This is just me assuming things so I can\'t say its true or not but this is what I think.  Once the mirrors are updated, then running the updater will get you all the files you need.  Or, there is always reinstalling 0.3.013 and running that updater and doing it that way.

soon

and since you ask when soon is, when the devs get time to update it.  normally a day or two after the client download version is released, which has been said to be at least a few days away once some bugs are worked out.

The update servers will be ready eventually.  Just be patient.

You\'ll need to do another manual patch of the updater again, though this should be the last.  The self-updating in 1.1.0.1 should work again.  Unlike the last time, where there was a pile of updated maps to get, this time using the updater should be faster than redownloading the whole thing.

can\'t be true that there aren\'t any seeders... i seeded the new client while i was sleeping...

actually, just becuase you have the file to seed, doesn\'t mean you will seed it, or even show up on a person\'s client that is curretly trying to get the file as being able to seed.  there\'s fancy mumbo jumbo going on in the background and you must meet certain criteria.  so while you make a good canditate for one person, another needing the file may not even see you as being able to give it to them.

not to say that people shouldn\'t seed.  bit torrent works best the more people there are seeding.  just saying that the corelationship between \"i\'m seeding and there are people needing the file so I must have been giving it to them\" is not a correct one.

its wether you want to play today or \'soon\'

A full new client will be released again, so you\'ll have to download the entire thing once more. Personally I would recommend holding off right now and waiting.

just tought id help out a bit, i just started seeding in bittorrent with 600k cap, and already 300 is taken, so apperently im helping some of you people out here :P

ill keep it open till i log off from my computer.

// SardiT

*edit*

you have a seed stop in you options set

you download a file and keep sharing it for a maximum time, where the downloaded time is deducted from the maximum time. Meaning that even though you are done bittorrent will keep sharing your file for another hour before closing it. ( stop sharing it with the rest of the world. )

you can set either allways keep seeding
set a share ratio ( meaning that a ratio compared to the filesize is set and that determines how long it keeps sharing )
or a time to keep sharing.

Its just some nonesence info if you dont use it often. Id reccommand set sharing without a cap. that way you will always keep the file open as long as you have bittorent open.

Please avoid posting two or more successive posts before others have replied. Just edit your last post to add new information :) Thanks! --Karyuu

I\'m downloading it from BT @ 50k/sec

I\'ll leave my client open for 12 hours for others to download from me (Should get 25k/sec from my connection)

but is it 3.14 or 3.14b?
Title:
Post by: Karyuu on April 13, 2006, 11:06:01 pm
0.3.014b is just the installer name. Since this is the actual \"full\" (fixed!) version of 0.3.014, it\'s really just 0.3.014 :)
