I am willing too make a new layout for the Planeshift site. Or at least give it a try. But I need PNG\'s, JPG\'s whatever types of planeshift pics too do it. Would be nice if you could pack it in a zip file, host it and PM me the link. Already working on the layout while I type.
Expecting answer soon.

Preview of the site availible at: http://www.martinsgamegallery.net/Real%20Planeshift/index.html
There\'s also a link too the new forum login screen, wich you guys must figure out of.
Please avoid posting two or more successive posts before others have replied. Just edit your last post to add new information :) Thanks! --Karyuu

Scaling up images is definitely not a good idea - you further lose quality and the result looks horribly pixelated and unclean. You have a repeating background as well, not good for larger resolutions.. Among other issues.
May I recommend that you read through Netty\'s website criticism thread? It has a lot of good pointers about what really needs improving. Moreover, I think further study in web design in general would be helpful :)
Not trying to purposefully put you down - I hope you don\'t get any such vibes from my post - but if the site is going to be redesigned, it has to be redesigned rather well...
-
Hey, you just help me improve my site. The more critism I get, the better can I make the site! Anyway, could you send me a big version of the PS Setup screen?
-
That is not something I have - nor would I recommend re-using PS GUI windows for a website layout. A game (or any application) website looks more professional when it doesn\'t look like a screenshot with pasted content. Were I to redesign the layout, I would definitely either start from scratch or use graphics in a more original way.
-
True true. I do it from scratch, though. With BlueVoda, of course.
Still in BETA, also. Working on it right now, actually. *work work work*

you are doing a good job :D

I cannot say that the setup screen makes a good website. Period. Okay that aside. Let me take a look at a few serious issues:
- Do not use your homepage just as it comes out of the WYSIWYG editor, best not use an WYSIWYG edtior (like frontpage) at all.
- tags are a no-go, use CSS instead.
- The current (absolute positioning) is lacking, you can easily handle the positioning via JavaScript, makeing your site NOT a tiled mess.
If you need help with CSS and JavaScript I am happy to spend some (a bit of my) time helping you.
Edit: Currently the site is a definitive no-go, if you dont make major changes in the theme (Are you really proposing that the whole text is cluttered into that small boxes?), and your web-design style this is not going to change.

Use a font people can read. :|
-
Try changing your screen resolution to 800x600 and check the webpage ;) The images need adaptive scaling.

Probably will be useful to you.

good luck,dude!
I recommend you look this site:http://www.freewebtemplates.com/
but first of all, you should improve your design skill!
learn a litter photoshop and web programming, and know how to make the colors more concordant :)
-
I wouldn\'t recommend using free pre-existing templates for the PS site ;) First that\'s unprofessional and unoriginal, and second we wouldn\'t be able to call the site completely ours. It may be a good learning tool and something to use for your personal homepage, but when you\'re working on a larger project you should definitely do the bulk of the work yourself.
-
no,you misunderstand me,I\'m not talking about the ps site :(
I mean Arcanacat could learn something from this templates.
of course the official site should be original ! :)
-
I know, that was just a note to whoever in case they thought using pre-existing templates was a good idea :3 But studying layouts would definitely teach you something. I would also recommend looking at other MMORPG sites to study their organization and style.
