Title: Server inaccessible
Post by: Lokius on April 15, 2006, 11:15:21 pm
This just reeks of another port being firewall blocked, but I dont know which one. with the old (0.3.013) version, it was port 7777. I need to know which one it is now. (with version 0.3.014) I do have the new updater, so please don\'t bug me about that. It says, \"Server Failed.\" I am using WIndows XP, if that matters.

The port hasn\'t changed, so it\'s still 7777.

Sometimes the server goes down.  Try again later and see?

If not, I could try to help you out with some port forwarding.

So what\'s wrong?

There\'s this weird thing that I don\'t know how to explain in better (or more correct) details, because it\'s beyond me.. :) But some connection in the network between your machine and the server may occasionally experience a hiccup. It\'s happened to me, and a few others - port forwarded, server up, but still show a \"Fail\". This usually passes in some minutes however. Wait a bit and try again is all I can advise.
Title: Alamar, whats port forwarding?

I tried it later, and it still didnt work. I think i need to go with, and hence know, plan B.

If you have a router, there is a large chance that you need to enable port forwarding for port 7777. Determine the model of your router, then head over to http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm (http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm) and look up the instructions on how to do this. Click on any applications to use as an example, but substitute PlaneShift\'s info.

I don\'t have a router. What else could the issue be?

I\'m trying un- and re-installation, to see if that works it out.

No luck.
