Title: Metallurgy and Millionaires
Post by: Talad on April 22, 2006, 02:54:42 pm
Hi,
due to testing activities we have done on metal melting and stock casting, few people managed to become quite rich, the same happened in the past with loot weapons found on monsters.

Few moments ago we removed the \"extra\" money from the top characters, the richest had 8222110 circles just to give you an example. WIth that money you can probably buy the whole hydlaa city :)

We also removed the extra (>2) ingots in your inventories, those now require more metallurgy skills, and have better prices. The prices are still very interesting for precious metals.

Remember that we are experimenting new features quite often, so adjustments like this may always happen. We try to be resonable, and just remove the excess.

8222110 circles = 2055527500 trias, OMG! Right, they could buy the whole town, akkaio and maybe the DR too.

Good to see this has been addressed. I am hoping that a complete wipe comes soon, but untill then it\'s nice to see that development recognizes the large problem the mining system has caused. Kudos devs, kudos.

- characters invested in glyphs to avoid the wipe

- stock weights are screwy

- stocks were not wiped even though ingots were

- gold and platinum ingots were not wiped, but all molten gold and molten platinum is gone

- a guild complained about losing money because their "Banker" character was carrying their combined wealth

- I think I also accused starsandbars of being demarthyl based on pictures he has of himself

That's about it for me.

Really, I hope for the next wipe soon (and soon as in at least a month) it's just been madness after the first wipe.

I haven't noticed any madness.

It's too bad that this forum didn't come with a troll or spam smiley. (http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d46/_zanz/spam.gif)

Many things in excess cause spoilage and bad odors.  I think having over 2 billion trias qualifies in this category.  It is a shame so many people spent so much time fund raising and not enough time learning the new system and having fun with it.  If some people invested in other things to avoid having all their "hard" earned wealth taken away, good, at least they used it for something.  Good riddance.

You just contradicted yourself.  If someone spent a billion trias on glyphs, then they'll still have 800 million trias despite the wipe.

The only way to solve that particular problem is to do a simultaneous wipe of all glyphs which you can buy from the magic shop and another money wipe.  Please don't wipe other glyphs such as energy and meteor... meteor is a pain to get and I don't even know where to get another energy glyph.

Allright buddy.  I know you love to start poorly backed up arguments based off opinion, conjencture, or when that fails, "moral superiority", but please tell me where I mentioned 800 million tria worth of glyphs in my statement, "I think over 2 billion trias qualifies in category"  The statement was about tria, not glyphs, not items, not anything other than Tria. Take a course in semantics, logic, or debate, and stop spamming the board with little quips to tick everyone off to prove to everyone how smart you are.  No one I have spoken to is impressed. And I find that trying to defend myself to your poorly constructed arguments/statements is beneath me.

I believe Zanzi was taking what you posted and also combining that with what he siad earlier about how he thinks many people anticipated a tria wipe and so to keep most of thier eranings, they converted it all to glyphs bought from the magic shop.

'Beneath' you?  'Over your head' is more like it.

You said: "Many things in excess cause spoilage and bad odors.  I think having over 2 billion trias qualifies in this category."

Then you said: "If some people invested in other things to avoid having all their "hard" earned wealth taken away, good, at least they used it for something."

You're contradicting yourself.  People invested in glyphs to save their millions of trias from the wipe.

How did this thread turn into an argument already?...   ::|

People have always been able to get money past these mini-wipes.  It happens, and we'll need to wipe fully to deal with it.  That's about all there is to it.
