The answer is probably out there, but I can't find it. How do I get actions to appear?

Say, for example, that I wanted to point at someone's shirt, how do I make that appear in character?

You mean with the /me command? :) Like typing /me raises a hand to frantically point at the growing stain on the Ylian's shirt.
